I had set up webtrees (1.4.1), loaded starting data with myself and one other user added to the project. But for family and profound medical problems, I was not able to work with the program for almost a year. When I cranked up the program again within the last few days, almost all of the log-in information was denied. I logged in with the admin account, and found that the user accounts were disabled due no activity. So I went to the delete inactive users, deleted all and tried to set the accounts back up. Could not as the accounts are still there.

So problem one: how do I reset or reopen or reactivate the accounts deleted due no activity?

Problem two: How do I set another person (deceased) as the default user?

Problem three: I see that I did not have the email notification properly configured to receive a password reset option. I can see the data base using PHP My Admin. Is there a routine I can run to reset a password directly within the tables? It would be nice if the passwords were no encrypted...way to change that?

In other words - new user and could use a tad of assistance...tks.

What exactly do you mean by this? webtrees does not have such a feature.

How do I set another person (deceased) as the default user?

It is an option on the family tree configuration page.

You can generate an encrypted password, and use PhpMyAdmin to store it.

Here's the encrypted form of "password"

Absolutely not ;-)

Thanks for the quick reply...will go have a look in a bit as the sun is about to come up (EST) and stuff to do.

One point; and I will try to be a bit more specific...

Admin > Users > "Delete inactive users" > there displayed was my account and my bride's account - default month counter was set to 6. So I checked the block by each account and continued...and then both were no longer listed on that page. Now that page displays "Nothing found to cleanup". I suppose I am looking for a way to view users accounts displayed about like a system admin would be able to see in Active directory.

But thanks for the help...a lot to read and...learn here.

Just click the "Users" option in the admin menu. You'll get a list of users, and have the option to edit their details....

Hello Greg,

What about Administration -> Users -> Delete inactive users -> ?

EDIT : By the way, it is impossible to change and save the number of months of inactivity. I tried to set it at 1 month instead of 6 and it still keep 6. Why?

Hello Greg,

More strange, it works on my local Wamp [strike]mirror [/strike]copy but not on my webhost server!?!

EDIT: Is a user who has never logged in considered as inactive?

OK. it is not a bug. It seems to be one month plus one day. And the user who has never logged in registered less than one month ago. So, webtrees works fine. Sorry for my misunderstanding.

Bud
We try to use this forum as a knowledge base. Part of good forum etiquette is providing a detailed SUBJ line for the thread you are posting. Subjects with multiple question and incomplete concepts are of little help.

Please - one thread (post), one question

Thanks in advance
