webtrees performance with PHP5.5 was created by fisharebest
PHP5.5 promises much improved performance, and now that my favourite linux distribution (ubuntu) includes it, I decided it was time to put this to the test.
The test environment is a virtual ubuntu server, with 1.5GB of RAM, and default settings for everything. I installed webtrees 1.4.3 and loaded the tree from the demo server. Testing was done using apache-bench
The results are:
PHP5.4 - 6.5 pages/second
PHP5.4+APC - 23 pages/second
PHP5.5 - 28 pages/second
That's a 20% improvement. I'll be upgrading soon!

Is there any reason not to enable PHP5.5 with webtrees 1.5.3?

Many of us use PHP 5.5 variations. You must be using the development files (not recommended) to use PHP 5.6GrahamE wrote: Is there any reason not to enable PHP5.5 with webtrees 1.5.3?
