I have problems configuring my SMTP settings within webtrees correctly. My webtrees log always shows a "connection refused" error. However, I cannot change the SMTP Port within my webtrees IMAP mail configuration, since I cannot set a dedicated SMTP port.
My hosting service provides for the following configuration:
IMAP (SSL/TLS): Port 993
SMTP (SSL/TLS): Port 465 (alternatively Port 587)
Now I have set the SMTP Port
- to 587 and get error "Mail: Could not open socket"
- to 465 and get error "Mail: '' does not match the expected structure for a DNS hostname, '' does not appear to be a valid URI hostname, '' does not appear to be a valid local network name
And now: YES. I have got the solution: The SMTP-Server has to be set TWICE: as "Server name" AND as "Sending server name". Port 465 is fine...
Might be just a misinterpretation issue on my side - but why are there two fields for the outgoing server name?
Everything is fine now. Thanks again for your quick support!
