Tiny display with F.A.B theme was created by bigwidower
Hello,

I notices an issue with the FAB theme (I never noticed it as I choose another theme) :

The pages sometimes (randomly ?) display with tiny letters, impossible to read (see atached files).
If I refresh the pages, everything returns normal.

Can I modify something in the FAB theme files to avoid this ?

Thanks

Never seen anything like this, and it is hard to investigate without being able to reproduce it.

Same random problem, probably with 1.6.1 too.
I'm using Firefox most of time.

The pages sometimes (randomly ?)

All pages? Just the individual page?

1 in 10?
1 in 100?
1 in 1000?

At least the individual pages and the search results pages, as shown in the attached files.

I obtain the two pages shown in the attached files during the same session, within about 5 mn, by navigating from one page to another. So it is not 1 in 1000 or 1 in 100.

I have observed the same issue since 1.6.1 (I am still on 1.6.1)
I get this both at home and at work but only when using Firefox. Usually I use Chrome (without having seen the issue) but my web statistics shows many FF users so I am a bit worried how it affects user's interest in my site.
As mentioned previously it is individual page and lists that seem to be affected.
When it occurs, normally every time I open a new page, I can always correct it by pressing F5/Reload page.

I am glad ( ;-) ) to discover that I am not the only one to encounter this issue

It seems to be related to :
  • the FAB theme
  • webtrees 1.6.1 and more recent versions
  • the use of firefox

Does this help to understand and resolve the problem ?

Not reallly. What I need is to reproduce the problem on my own computer so I can investigate it.

I would start by examining the page/styling using Firebug. i.e. I would ask the browser what size it thinks the text should be, and why.

Don't know whether this will help: I use 2 different machines. But it only appears under Vista/Firefox. The other one runs Win 7 and has no problems.

Same problem: FAB-theme, webtrees 1.6.2 (updated from 1.6.0), PHP 5.3.10 and Firefox (34.0).

The problem appears to be in the file jquery-ui.css with the selector .ui-widget about line 832. Site www.spehle.de/webtrees/individual.php?pid=I371&ged=spehle shows this as having a font-size of 1px not the 1em that the file should have. I wonder if the modernizer is changing this?

Here is the jaquery-ui.css code for FAB and Colors on the 1.6.2 release.

FAB
.ui-widget{font-family:inherit;font-size:1.0}

Colors
.ui-widget{font-family:Verdana,Arial,sans-serif;font-size:1.1em}

As a workaround, if you add this code to the bottom of file /themes/fab/css-1.5.2/style.css it should fix the problem -- will make this standard in the 1.6.0 release.

.ui-widget {
font-size: 1em;
}

To the best of my knowledge, this issue has been fixed in the dev version. Can you reproduce the problem on the beta version of the demo? Are you using the fixes noted in post #15?
