Finding unlinked records was created by sinedv
Hello everyone,

I start to collect information about my ancestors a long time ago from various sources and tools like Brother keeper.

Now from years, I'm very happy to continue to work with webtrees (thanks again for the good job).

I try to cleanup old data because I was less stric at the very beginning :(
I found some time by hazard some duplicate people and/or unlinked people...

The question of the day: how to identify "unlinked" people?

thanks in advance for your advice

Vincent

Bonjour Vincent,

One way I have found is to search for a specific name and then, in the results, click the button "Show parents". It is not perfect but at least you may find individuals without parents.

I know BK6 has a report "Unlinked individuals". webtrees does not offer that report.

The old standby "PAF" (previously from FamilySearch.org) can be found @ parowansoftware.com/
Download your GED file & read it with PAF - PAF can give you a list of unlinked individuals.
Make a note of those, and go back to your webtrees software to delete as desired.

There's a piece of software I've used for this called Genealogica Grafica:
www.genealogicagrafica.nl/

Start with importing your GEDCOM file (exported from webtrees.) After analysis it will show errors and warnings, including 'islands' of individuals / families that have no link with the root person. If all is OK it will show all individuals are linked to one single group.

stamboom.BertKoor.nl runs on webtrees v1.7.13

I used Genmerge to identify duplicates. It gives a report with all duplicate persons/marriages. Afterwards, you have to remove the duplicates one by one, using the "merge records" feature in WT.
This, however gives some errors itself after you check it with the built in error checker.
I have not yet found a solution to this problem.
