zip.png JustLight Theme 1.7.9

Requirements

This version of the theme is for webtrees 1.7.8/1.7.9.

Description

This theme is also available at http://www.justcarmen.nl.

This is a modern theme in clean white and blue. The layout is adjusted as much as possible for use on touch devices like tablets and mobile phones.

You can see this theme in action on my website: http://www.wijzijnfamilie.nl.

A few things to mention: The menu is responsive. This means it will collapse on smaller screens and have only clickable items. You might be used to hover over a menu item to get it’s submenu but on touch devices the hover functionality doesn’t exist. The tabs at the individual page are replaced by bootstrap panels for a better layout on mobile devices. Also the sidebar will collapse automatically when viewing from smaller screens. And much more…

This theme also have it’s own option module. You can opt for a compact menu, a separate media menu and/or to place the main menu items in any order you like.

The JustLight theme options module is included in this package. Note: This theme will work perfectly well without the module. The module is just extra.

zip.png Rural Theme 1.7.8

Suitable for webtrees 1.7.8 / 1.7.9 / 1.7.10 / 1.7.11.

Initially designed for PhpGedView, here is the Rural theme for webtrees.

It is mainly based on brown tones, as a tribute to the earth our ancestors used to cultivate, with some green, color of nature. Contrary to the majority of themes, it does not use the whole width of the screen, but wrap the content within a white panel on a brown background.

The installation is as easy as the other themes: just copy the rural folder in your ./themes/ folder. You can change the header image by a more personal one, simply by replacing the file ./themes/rural/css-x.x.x/images/header.png by a personal one (replace x.x.x by the version number). There is only a constraint on the height which has to be 150px.

I will try to update the theme each time a new version of webtrees is released, but I apologise if my professionnal or personal life does not allow me from time to time being as reactive as the developers. Please do not hesitate also to let me know any bugs or improvements you could find, either through the forum (username jon48) or my personal website.

You can see the result on my personal website : http:/genea.jaubart.com/, and I hope you will enjoy it!

For versions in the 1.4 series, more recent than 1.4.3, please use the package 1.4.3, in bold below

zip.png xeneo 1.6.2

Modified version of the standard xenea theme, updated for webtrees 1.6.2.

NB: THIS VERSION IS ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH WEBTREES 1.6.2

Older versions can be found at the github project page.

These are the main differences from xenea:

  • All color definitions are moved from style.css to a new file colors.css. This makes it much easier to adjust colors to your own liking, and to make adjustments consistent across page items: if you want to change the dark green to brown, you can change that in one place.
  • The color scheme uses blue and red nuances for person boxes only. A theme that uses blue for neutral elements seems to confirm that "it's a man's world". OK, it is, but it doesn't have to be emphasised.
  • The look and feel is modernized. The webtrees layout is (still) table-based, but it doesn't have to look that way. NB: the theme uses the css3 property box-shadow, which is not recognized by all browsers (read: Internet Explorer and really old browsers). There are workarounds for these, and I may eventually incorporate them, but only after the theme passes from the development stage to the adjustment stage.
  • Minor enhancements: more logical placement of the color, theme and favorite menus; the site name is a link to the front page; personalized favicon (it's my grandfather; replace it with your own); etc.

I still consider it a beta version, in the sense that there may still be obscure windows that I haven't "found" and adapted yet, but it is the only theme I use on my own site, and there aren't any problems. The colors.css file can still be optimized a whole lot more, and there may be bugs that I've overlooked, so take it for what it is. I welcome feedback and bug reports.

It can be seen in action on my own site.

The name: it's a "neo-xenea", and my anglicized initials are "eo"...
