Hej guys

Converted from PHPgedview by exporting the GEDCOM file.
Did that because I had to change a small error (PHPGEDVIEW had deleted a blank efter each "NOTE" field)

Actually it works like a breeeze, but I have some problems with my media.
I thought that webtrees would be satisfied if I just uploaded the media to the correct folder with Filezilla. It doesn't :o/

Then I just would delete the old entries - I have 50 - and then upload the via webtrees.

But I cannot delete the via webtrees (or I cannot find out) :o)
Do you have a workaround, or is it easier do delete them directly in the GEDCOM file?

Best regards from Denmark

It should work. We'd need more details to work out what is wrong in your case.

Delete what? Media files (on disk)? Media objects (records in the family tree)?

What did you try? What errors did you get?

Hi fisharebest

Yes - it is the mediaobjects I cannot delete.

Went into "Pictures and medias" in the admin panel so you can see all the mediafiles.
On every line with a media there is a red warning "This mediafile does not exsist"
Tried to click "delete" on every media. It asks you if you want to delete. I click yes.
But nothing happens - it is still there

Tried to click handle

Tried to go to an inividual. Chose the tab "Pictures and media" and here I can delete the line (reference). But of course the media is still missing.

What if you go to the page of the media object (the "view" option), and use the delete option on that page?

There are two separate concepts -

"media files" - files on disk
"media objects" - genealogy records in your family tree

The left column shows media files.
The right column shows media objects.

It is possible to create a media file without a media object.
It is possible to create a media object without a media file.

Your final screenshot shows that you have deleted the *media file* from disk, but you still have a "media object" in your family tree. The "View" link on the right-hand column will take you to it. But it will show an error "file not found". You can delete it from its own "view" page (URL mediaviewer.php) of from the admin list.

Hi Greg

I tried to upload to both the media and the media/media folder, and now I can see my media.
I have one final question though - after deleting etc I now have 10 media files that are both missing AND are not linked.

How do I delete them?
Do you have a solution to that alså?

Best
Jesper

Give specific examples. It is much easier to (a) understand and (b) help if we can discuss exact files/paths/configurations.
