I'm trying to get my PGV data transferred to a new Webtree installation, unfortunately I'm not succeeding.
I have:
PGV_SCHEMA_VERSION 14 (read ok by the script)
only one user (with valid e-mail)
300+ individuals
webtrees 1.7.2
Both PGV and webtrees use localhost.
webtrees and pgv(dir name family) lives in the same directory on the webserver.
When I test I drop the webtrees database, and reinstalls webtrees from zip file.
After running the script there is no family tree to show.
The individuals table in webtrees is empty as well as most other tables.
Please ask if you need more details. I tried to upload a zip with some screen shots
but less that 1 MB was too large for the system to handle.
Hope you can help.
Thanks regards Søren

Not as a solution, but can you simply upload your gedcom file to the new installation?

What happens? Do you get an error message? etc.

Thanks for quick replies.
After running the script - without any errors - the system says that I need to create a family file...
As I wrote the webtrees database had no individuals, and looks like no other tables has contents.
The script finishes in less that a second, suggesting that no transfers take place.
May I mail screenshots with details to you Greg?
Thanks Søren

> After running the script

After running *what* script?

The setup script?
The PGV transfer wizard?

You need to tell us exactly what you did, and exactly what happened.

Hi Greg
I have taken the liberty to mail you some screenshots to clarify what I did.
There is also details on the system that I use, which may help.
Yes, I refer to the The PGV transfer wizard.
The setup script which runs first seems to run ok and creates what to me looks a valid webtrees database.
Hope this helps.
Thanks regards Søren

I don't know. It copied "all the trees", and none were copied.

Perhaps there was something wrong with PGV. Was it working normally?

But since you only have one user and one tree, it is probably quickest just to export a GEDCOM file from PGV and import it into webtrees.

The wizard is designed to preserve all your user accounts and configuration. If you don't have any other user accounts, then there is little for it to copy.

PGV does work, but when editing it has some problems with the newest PHP version.
That is the reason for converting to webtrees as PGV doesn't seem to be maintained any longer.
I have deleted all users apart from my own account to avoid problems with missing e-mails. As mentioned in another topic.
During that I discovered that PGV has two tables with user data:
pgv_user and pgv_users
When deleting users in PGV admin it only deletes the users in one of the tables,
the other table keeps all users. Unfortunately webtrees import the table which contain "deleted" users, effectively
giving the deleted users a rebirth.
I have used PhpAdmin to delete all user entries apart from my own admin login in both pgv tables.
Unfortunately the wizard still fails to convert.
I'll give it a try with GEDCOM import and see if I can make it work.
Thanks a lot for your assistance.

I'm guessing that PGV has failed to update properly.

We can import two different versions of PGV (hence two different "users" tables").

In the old version, family trees are defined in a configuration file.
In the new version, famiy trees are defined in a database table.

The screendumps show webtrees trying to import the "new" PGV version.

An incomplete upgrade in PGV would explain why the family trees are not loading. You have the new code, but your data is still in the old format.

Aha, so that is the case, no wonder it behaves weird then.

Thanks a million for clearing up.

Best regards Søren
