I am a long term webtrees forum user/account holder. I now have a very annoying account access problem which I think is related to the cookie policy acknowledgement which was recently implemented. Basically, I cannot log in without going through the password reset process and logging in with the credentials which I provide for the reset. I can successfully get in that way but only for the session duration. The next time I try to log in with the reset credentials, I get a brief (~1 sec) popup message which I think is the cookie policy acknowledgement form but without any time to respond to it. I am just presented with the login form again, which fails again, etc. Please help.

My problem is similar. On Chrome, I made the mistake of declining the EU e-privacy Directive about cookies. I have since reconsidered but am not allow to 'agree' with the directive. Therefore, I cannot log in with Chrome. All attempts to toss my cookies and restart have failed.

Like @davistom , I cannot log in as a user.

My work around is to use Firefox, my secondary browser, to log into the Forum and make forum entries.

I remember seeing another post with similar issues. I would like to add my vote to recheck the ER e-privacy Directive plug in or recommend a work around so I can use Chrome again.

I just tried this on Chrome, and was able to change my mind.

> All attempts to toss my cookies and restart have failed.

The plugin uses HTML Local Storage instead of cookies.

You can view/edit/delete Local Storage in Chrome using:

Right Click Page > Inspect Element > Resources -> Local Storage

So you should be able to use this to "reset" the plugin and start again.

I am sorry I missed this post when it first appeared. When I turned this plugin on I did notice that Chrome acted a bit strange when the user selected no but thought it was just me and clearing the cache resolved it.
