I have a problem with markdown formatting and the used table code inside a shared note (f.i. census assistant). If I use booth the markdown format (f.i. **text**) not works.

Why webtrees uses the following table code?
.start_formatted_area.
.b.text|.b.text|.b.text
text|text|text
.end_formatted_area.

And not this "markdown" code?
text | text | text
--- | --- | ---
text | text | text

With the last example the markdown text formatting works for shared notes.

This format was designed by the author of the census-assistant module.

We need a utility to convert these into markdown.

It seems that it is your (great) work. The old PGV module code shows your name. :)

For me, I have only a few tables at the moment, so I can do the changes by hand. But for users who use the census assistant often you are right with a converting utility (if necessary). But your code works and it is not a bug ... only the use with markdown in the same note not works well.

Thanks.

If I remember correctly, the original author (Brian Holland) did not have write-access to the source-code repository.

Perfectly recollected.
Please don't mess with the tables in non-markup. I have thousands recorded as well as using the same code to create tables for displaying other columnar information.

Don't panic. :)

It was only a question because the table code of census assistant not works right together with markdown in the same note. And I read and test it that a markdown table code exists which works well together.

Problem solved.

Now I know that the census assistant uses it own table code and for other notes I can use the 'simple' markdown table and text format.
