I would like some advice.
I have in my genealogy a person who has more than 400 descendants.
What are the settings that would help my server to search for them.
Indeed, the search for his descendants takes a long time without necessarily ending.
My site uses php 7.0.9 - ngnix 1.10.3 - webtrees 1.7.9
I have already set up webtrees 256M memory and Php 6000.
But there are surely other parameters to modify
Thanks in advance

- Local server -
- webtrees - SVN - latest
- webtrees 1.7.9

Sorry, but how exactly do you search for all descendents? What report / diagram / list exactly?

The ones I tried have an option to limit the number of generations. Try to find the limit where it still works. On my not so very optimised server it can report 99 individuals in the blink of an eye. If you look at the bottom of the html source it will show (in html comment) the execution time, used memory and number of needed SQL queries. Find out what is the bottleneck: memory or CPU time? Focus on that ...
stamboom.BertKoor.nl runs on webtrees v1.7.9

Thanks bertkoor with your thinking, I found one of my problem.
If i don't use Francy_branche module, it's perfect
Same thing if i don't use the module Francy_treeview

could you look at the problem when the branch is big with several person married between cousin, it should have a problem loop or something else
Thank you in advance

Fancy branches can be slow in big trees. Not much I can do about it. My only advice is, if you experience such problems simply don't use it.

With Fancy Treeview it might help to tweak some settings:
  • Number of generation blocks to show: lower the number and see if it helps. Only the first x generations will be loaded at once. The next x generations will be loaded when clicking the 'next' button. This will reduce memory.
  • Check relationship between partners: this is a very memory consuming setting. If your loading time is still too long, after the above setting is used then disable this one.
  • Show singles: this setting also reduce memory if set to 'no'

Thanks JustCarmen for you help

It's to bad to do not use it (i like the compression)
Check relationship between partners: this is a very memory consuming setting. If your loading time is still too long, after the above setting is used then disable this one

it is this option that is problematic for me. (the person has his name on 15 generations with more than 700 people)
I do not know what it gives as more information
for now, I disable it
