Hi,

due to a problem with the siwecos-website-scanner the siwecos-support told me that the problem could be caused by the 302 redirection on my website (proavitus.de).

Due to this and also other risks (URL-Hijacking) they recommended to change redirection to 200 or 301.

My question:
1) What do you think about the necessity of changing redirection from 302 to 301/200?
2) Is the redirect 302 caused by webtrees?
3) How could I change to 200 or 301? My website is hosted on a webspace with limited access, so I can't configure the server by myself. But I can change the .htaccess in webtrees/data/.

Thanks!

P.S. the 302 redirection is not visible if the side is called with the complete url https://proavitus.de/index.php?ctype=gedcom&ged=proavitus but appears if the url is only https://proavitus.de/index.php.

What problem?

If you do not specify a tree in the URL, webtrees will redirect to the default tree.

This default tree can change.

Therefore the redirect is temporary (302), not permanent (301).

301 is normally used when you move a site to a new URL. For example, if your site moved from example.com/webtrees to webtrees.example.com, then you would use a 301.

302 is also used to handle form-submissions. For example, if you send a POST request to submit a form, webtrees will respond with a 302 redirect to the next page.

This change would not make sense.

What is the problem that you are trying to fix?

The scanner is no longer able to 'reach' my site. It has worked from September on with wt V1.7.11 for a few weeks until the problem started early November. Maybe the scanner has a problem to access the HTML-file-token (which has been copied in the webtrees folder). Unfortunately I've obtained no further information from the provider (apart from the 302-redirection).

According your explanation I believe that this is no webtrees problem and I will discuss it with the siwecos-support again.

Thanks a lot for your explanation, the outstandig support and this great software!
