MariaDB 5 Series vs MariaDB 10 Series was created by thezfunk
I have both MariaDB5 and 10 running. webtrees is currently in 5 but I could port to 10. I see that 5 is maintaining compatibility with MySQL whereas 10 tries to but also adds new features.
Should I just stick with 5 and not worry about going to 10 with webtrees?

It doesn't really matter. Both will work equally well.
webtrees uses a few MySQL-specific features, however I'd like to remove the dependence on these at some point in the future, so that it could run on postgres, sqlite, etc.
