To reside vs to be domiciled was created by a2v
Hello,
On some French marriage certificates, the husband and/or spouse has an address where he/she resides (= lives) and an address where he/she is domiciled (official address for the administration).
How to reflect that in a GEDCOM structure ?
Thanks.

You can add a "TYPE" to all facts/events.
Perhaps
1 RESI
2 ADDR address where the individual lived.
1 RESI
2 TYPE domicile
2 ADDR address used for communication

Thanks for your answer and indeed, it's possible to add a TYPE tag to a fact/event.
But, help me to understand something :
The TYPE of a MARR or of an EVEN (for example) is displayed in the interface.
Ex :
1 EVEN
2 TYPE Pacte civil de solidarité
2 DATE 13 FEB 2008
Why, is the TYPE of a RESI not displayed as the same ?
Ex :
1 RESI
2 TYPE Résidence
2 DATE 22 OCT 2021
2 PLAC , Cormeilles-en-Parisis, 95176, Val-d'Oise, Île-de-France, France
Thanks.

The TYPE of a generic EVEN or FACT tag is mandatory to describe the event or fact itsself.
The TYPE of all other tags describes a further classification of the tag but does not change its basic meaning.

This behavior should be clarified by one of the developers.

The TYPE Tag contains a definition that further defines the base tag.
Therefore a
1 MARR
2 TYPE Civil Marriage
Says that this Marriage tag is further defined as a “Civil Marriage” and not a “Religious Marriage”. Without the TYPE it would just be a Marriage, without more qualification.
Because the selection options for the MARR:TYPE are limited by selection, vs other tags where the TYPE can be anything, “marriage” is part of the tag display rather than the subtag display!

MARR:TYPE is handled lightly differently to other TYPE tags.
This is very old logic, and I think it was designed for software that creates;
1 MARR
2 TYPE Not married
