Bonjour,


Suivants les actes, au fil du temps, mes personnages ont des noms qui s'écrivent par exemple :
LAGARSSE LA GARCE LAGARCE

je respecte les orthographes originales et je veux signifier que la racine est LA MÊME : LAGARCE par exemple
(dans "NOM" je mets Antoine / LAGARSSE et dans "NOM DE FAMILLE" je mets la racine LAGARCE (qui correspond au père par exemple.

De sorte que si je demande l'affichage de la BRANCHE (list->branch) TOUS mes individus s'affichent quel que soit le patronyme demandé puisqu'ils ont la même racine.

Actuellement je n'arrive pas à le faire..

En fait je souhaite que quelque soit le patronyme demandé la requête "branche" fasse référence à ce que je nomme la RACINE.
Cela semble d'ailleurs fonctionner pour la recherche où les différentes orthographes sont listées dans les rapports aussi mais pas pour les branches

EST-ce possible ou bien ai-je une erreur fodamentale??

Est-ce que vous utilisez le « Type » de nom ? Par exemple, le nom de famille Tetreau a connu plusieurs orthographes à travers les âges et les documents. En ajoutant un nom de « Type » ...également connu sous..., ces individus devraient être listés dans "Branches".

Bien contente que cela vous serve..
Je ne pourrais me passer de ce champ, car "mes" Tétreau ont traversé la frontière Canada-États-Unis maintes fois et se sont mariés dans l'un ou l'autre pays et y ont fait des enfants dans chacun. Un même individu né sous Jean-François Tétreau peut être nommé John Tetro, Frank Tatro, François Tétreault, etc. selon le document et le pays. Une tâche de bénédictin que de les retracer !

Technically, the use of the AKA where there are differences in spelling due to family preferences, misspellings by enumerators or family (uneducated), etc should be handled by putting these differences in the SURNAME field as they are not true AKA's in the sense of the term.

This has been discussed several times elsewhere in these forums, mostly in English, and webtrees is designed to handle this for display, lists and lookups well. Greg has written extensively on this subject, with comments by others, including Ken. This would be the proper GEDCOM standards method.

As an example,
1 NAME Jean-François /Tétreau/
2 GIVN Jean-François
2 SURN Tétreau,Tatro,Tetro,Tétreault

Vous pouvez vous connecter à mon site Tétreau généalogie... Dans le menu du haut sous Listes, sélectionnez Branches et taper le nom Thétrault, vous verrez qu'Ovide Tetreau n'apparaît pas dans les résultats.

You may login to the Tetreau website... In the top menu Lists > select Branches and ask for the name Thétrault, you will see that the individual Ovide Tetreau does not show on the list.

What Andre wants to list is Branches of all individuals whatever the spelling of the family name is.

How would that be a branch and how would that work? That's what I was saying when I said it would not apply to branch as, IMO, that does not fit the definition of a branch.

Are you saying that a branch stops if the surname changes? I think not, as it is/should be based on relationships, not surnames. Stoeffer, Stoffer; Cypher,Sypher; I don't see a branch stop until I run out of direct relations.
EDIT: If you expect all the similarly associated names to appear with a search for a specific name in branches, then I suppose you/Andre should ask Greg to change the search criteria to include the same criteria as the INDI/FAM lists when names of similar nature that have been associated under the SURN field are shown together. I was not expecting a soundex or associated name search in this field.

Yes, it effectively stops.. In fact, they just don't show. Give me few minutes and I'll show you an example.

EDIT : here's a link to Branches, you will notice there's no listing of the children of a family if their family name was entered using another spellings than Tétreau.

I know using AKA for this task is not standard gedcom but it works. If I add an AKA Tetreau to my indis with the family name Thetrault, they will all be listed on Branches when you ask for Tetreau.

Do you have these alternatives linked in a SURN field? It is this action that activates the multi-link SURN relationship. I sure don't see any on Ovide Tetreau:
Name: Ovide Tetreau
Given names: Ovide
Surname: Tetreau

This should be:

Name: Ovide Tetreau
Given names: Ovide
Surname: Tetreau,Tetreault,Tétreau,Tetro,Thétrault,Tatro...


However, with your link,
look at branch 1. Mathurin Tetreau but you searched for Tétreau, so it found Tetreau.

And, look at branch 4. Jacques Tetreau 1672–1741 1698
You will see there are both Tetreau and Tétreau listed, so I see no termination of the branch due to name variations.

OR, even better
branch 3. Francois Tetreau 1726–1807 1748
which includes 4. Eugene Tatro 1872–1949

So, I'm not sure what you are looking for that is not occurring.

You don't see it because I deleted these surnames I added to test, it displays a lonnnnnnnng name between brackets and I don't like this. Vous ne les voyez pas car je les ai supprimés. Ajouter toutes les variantes orthographiques dans le champ Surnom, affiche un nom très lonnnnnnng entre guillemets et je n'aime pas cela.

I can't do what Andre wants to, because I get time out when listing Branches if I add all Tetreau spellings in Surname or use AKA.

Stephen, sorry I missed that answer (in blue). And yes, this is exactly what Andre is looking for (not me because I'll get time out if I do so, too many Tetreaus in the database).

You shouldn't. You must check the manual entry on NAME before modifying the SURN field, then the javascript within the GUI will not add all the other surnames, OR, use raw edit to add.

Yes, your timeout is too short and not enough memory to even list all your Tetreaus. I would recommend you increase your script times and memory as even without using advanced features you are handicapped in display.

Tu ne devrais pas. Vous devez vérifier l'entrée du manuel NOM avant de modifier le champ SURN, puis le javascript dans l'interface graphique ne sera pas ajouter tous les autres noms de famille, OU, utilisez éditer premières à ajouter. Oui, votre délai d'attente est trop court et pas assez de mémoire à même la liste de vos Tetreaus. Je voudrais vous recommandons d'augmenter votre temps de script et de mémoire que, même sans l'aide des fonctionnalités avancées vous êtes handicapé dans l'affichage.

Well, I asked my web host twice about it. And until now, he did not increase max execution time; memory_limit is 256mb. I'll try to force 80 sec instead of 60 for max_execution_time limit throught webtrees admin and see if it works.
