I'm creating a "NEWS" block and an "HTML block" on the Home Page. The HTML block has the option to suppress the date/time creation (or modify) but NEWS doesn't. Is this possible? My NEWS is showing today's date but prefer the date I typed it.

In versions through v1.3.2, the news block always 'assumes' a change date as the date of the news article.
This has been changed in v1.4, about to be released.
See: www.webtrees.net/index.php/en/forum/9-re...l-datetime-svp#33713

There is no NEWS block for the My Page display and since any user can change their blocks, or not even visit the page, it would be of little use if it did exist there.

The My Page has a Journal block you can add. Works the same as news, but only visible to one specific member. Very useful to scribble research notes you cannot link yet to an individual or family.

I understood v1.4 is to be release very soon. So I'm awaiting that before changing any news items. Then I'll fix the publication dates in the NEWS table directly. My news articles were about discoveries of certain individuals, so using the log function and searching for those individuals I can reconstruct when approximately the article was originally written.

ORIGINALLY I had "NEWS" showing updates I made however, recently realized I was providing info that was for members, not visitors so moved it to MyPage and made HomePage NEWS more generic. However, I'd like to share the NEWS but not sure if that's possible. When I made the block default, it's blank so will need alternate.

The date I refer to in NEWS is stamped automatically but _not_ in the ADVANCED HTML where you can optionally select to remove it.

Go to the Admin panel - Modules - Blocks. There you can set which block to show to what type of user, so showing your news to members only, not casual visitors.

News items always have a date. The improvement coming in v1.4 is that this date (and thus it's position) is retained after editing.

I'd like to include the contents of NEWS so members can read about updates I've made to the collection.

You'd like to include NEWS where? As previous discussed herein as well as several times in other threads, NEWS is not a block available for the MyPage, nor are your users required to use their "MyPage" for access. Many users never use their MyPage and it can not be required as a "must visit". Users can bookmark any page as their desired page of entry to the site. Finally, users may change, add or remove the blocks on their MyPage and you can not mandate that certain blocks remain as a minimum configuration, although we have had some discussions on this matter. It usually comes back to the fact that users are not required to visit the MyPage, so what's the use?

Links can only be done to the main page as I set up link/image protection on the subdirectory (via web host). Any alternative way I can have an "update info" for members?

Read Stephen's reply again, carefully:

NEWS is not a block available for the MyPage

That means it CAN be used on the Home page, which is what I assume (?) you mean by your "main page".
