Media Firewall - Clearbox was created by omnior
Maybe somebody can give me a hint what I am doing wrong or what is missing. It's the first time I try to use the Media Firewall. I assume Media is correctly moved to the \data directory (and can be moved forth and back). But if I try to click at a media, it tells me:

Clearbox Error
Could not open Image

Did you define a folder to hold the media firewall? Outside the usual webspace?
The process creates a special .htaccess file to govern access to the folder and redirects, then moves the media to that folder.

I haven't tested to see if you create a MediaFW folder as a subfolder of the data folder to see if that would work. I suppose it might, but the usual procedure is to create the folder in non-webspace areas.

If you enable MediaFW, and leave the preferred directory blank (as most users will) webtrees creates a /data/media folder (with htaccess protection). So, like the other files in the /data folder they are protected, with no need or reason to move them out of the webspace.
The standard /media folder remains (and must) with full r/w access.

I've checked my local setup, and agree, that this error occurs. Please report it as a bug (I've looked but can't figure out the fix required myself). I'll alert Brian to the problem. He's the expert in lightbox issues. It seems like the media firewall re-direct might not be working correctly.

Nigel
Is this a permissions issue with the MFW created folder in data ? Does the .htaccess in the data folder create the conflict with the system's ability to read the media moved to the data/media folder created by MFW? Just some thoughts as obviously the out-of-webspace folder works perfectly.

Can you clarify "as obviously the out-of-webspace folder works perfectly." I haven't tested this in webtrees. Are you saying you have?

I don't think it is the htaccess file, becasue the images protected by MFW are still displayed OK on the Media and/or Album tabs and everywhere else they should be. The problem only happens when you click on a thumbnail to view the full size image (using lightbox).

yes - and no - all my images are located in a root directory /gene/mediaFW (the same folder and images I'm using for PGV). The /gene folder houses the other PGV items like an /index and /gedcoms subfolders.

Up until recently, it seems that it worked, but perhaps I was mistaken. I know I saw images, thumbs and could see larger photos by clicking, but now I have no images - rather a locked icon showing.

I reported it as a bug. I think it has somehow to do with a cache.

Any reason to think that? Its not a cache just on your system - I see the same problem too. I'm not aware that the media code uses any cache.

Yes,
if I am at the media administration and move a media to the MFW,
a) without having it opened before on the normal directory, I receive the error
b) when I open it once before in the normal media directory (and it probably gets cached "somewhere"), then it is shown even if after it is in the MFW directory....

If I try it with another browser, the same thing happens, so I assume it has something to do with the (browser)cache
