Hi,

I tried to update from Beta-1 to Beta-2, using the upgrade wizard. After exporting the family tree, it seems start downloading the new version. But every time after just a few seconds, it runs into "The server’s time limit has been reached." PHP settings are default.

Upgrade wizard

It can take several minutes to download and install the upgrade. Be patient.

Upgrade wizard
Upgrade to webtrees 2.0.0-beta.2.
Create a temporary folder…
The folder tmp/upgrade has been created.
Check for pending changes…
There are no pending changes.
Export all the family trees to GEDCOM files… Leininger
The family tree has been exported to Leininger-2019-05-12.ged.
Download github.com/fisharebest/webtrees/releases...es-2.0.0-beta.2.zip…
The server’s time limit has been reached.
Unzip webtrees-2.0.0-beta.2.zip to a temporary folder…
Copy files…
Delete old files…

What can be done ?
Regards
Helmut

Upgrade manually:

Download the .ZIP file.
Unzip it.
Copy the files to your server.

> But is it a bug

It depends on information that you did not provide...

Did the timeout message appear after 2 seconds or did it appear after 30 (or whatever your server limit is)?

If 2 seconds, then I recently fixed a bug in the timeout detection.
If 30 seconds, then not a bug.

I cannot tell for sure as I upgraded manually in the meantime. But the feeling is much less than 30 seconds. Either during transfer or just before unzipping.

Hello Greg,

I have a similar result but then after "deleting old files" the page freezes.
There's no error displayed or white pages (like server time out , tryed it with +10,000 records) just this image that is attached.
Time stamp of tree1-2019-05-24.ged is 2019.05.24 19:18:30 and Status server is idle at 1% at current time 22:14 (Dutch time)

If I delete the entire dir and replace it with the contents of the zip file webtree works again.

So Bug or (again) a server issue.

The upgrade had completed. A timeout while deleting old files should not be a problem. You may simple have old files left behind from the previous version.

The next upgrade will try to delete them again. Eventually they will all disappear.
