I have installed WT 1.7.x and 2.0.0. beta2 on the same server. Tested on the server of my provider and locally using ubuntu.

The same problem appears:
in WT 1.7 I get 3 choices for mail configuration. In WT 2.0 there are only 2 choices. "Use PHP mail to sen messages" (which is the only one that works for me) is missing.

"php mail" has been removed for many reasons.

1) it has security vulnerabilities that cannot be fixed.

2) it provides no feedback. It always replies "message sent OK" - even if mail was not sent.

Many mail libraries have removed support for it for these reasons.

You will need to use SMTP or sendmail.

For sendmail, you need to be the server administrator and allow PHP to use the "proc_exec" functions.

For SMTP, you need to use a SMTP mail server. I use google's SMTP mail server. It is free and reliable.
