There are many people using it, and there have been no significant issues reported for a while, so it seems pretty solid.

There are a small number of issues that need to be fixed for the 2.0.0 release:

github.com/fisharebest/webtrees/milestone/1

I would also like to finish renaming some CSS classes so that all elements that are intended for customisation have a "wt-" prefix.

Dear Greg,

Are there any plans to update the standard themes such that they have a similar look as the current 1.7 version?
Personallly, I do not like the presentation of the new version on a widescreen computer. In order to see the facts you have to scroll down on each pages, since the top 1/2 - 3/4 is occupied with the headers and names.

I have no plans to make webtrees 2.x look the same as webtrees 1.x.

I prefer the larger text and increased spacing.

webtrees 2.0 contains a built-in module that lets you make global changes to the styling.
If you want small text, etc on your own site, you can add it with a simple change.

How would you do what? Upgrade to v2 or change the styling, font sizes etc?

> especially the font size

webtrees2 uses the default font size that is configured in your browser.
You can change this in your browser preferences.

If you want all your users to have small fonts as well as yourself,
add this to the custom css/js module...
<style>
body { font-size: 12pt; }
</style>

This question has come up several times now - For me, the new look doesn't work either, with e.g. facts and events starting way down the individual page, if they are initially visible at all. This is not only caused by the font size, and therefore best addressed in a custom theme.

I have started working on such a 'webtrees compact' theme, available here. Currently, the individual page is adjusted like this (original theme on the left, compact theme on the right):

If this turns out to be useful, and if no one else is already developing similar themes, I may also adjust the other default themes.

Great! Thank you very much. With this custom theme I might finally consider to upgrade to v2!
I would be in favor when this would be integrated in the standard themes instead of being a custom theme.

@makitso

good effect and easy to install. Thanks

Maybe, I'd like the Family navigator at the right a little bit smaller.

Thanks everyone for the feedback - Actually, separate themes for these adjustments may often not be required after all: If you want to provide the compact layout exclusively for all themes, you can use this custom module instead of specific themes.

It adjusts all themes, similar e.g. to how makitso's common.css is applied (we also have to replace some views, because we cannot move more complex UI elements - the sex icons and the media edit controls - via css only).

Users will not be able to switch between the compact and the regular layout though.
