I take the two files that you have modified, but I don't see any change.

> the two files that you have modified

confused - what is this referring to?

The last comment was the SPDY error, and I didn't suggest modifying any files...

You write that you fix the permission problem, so that I take a look on github and see that you have modified the following files:
routes/web.php
resources/views/admin/trees.phtml

github.com/fisharebest/webtrees/commit/a...e2bd13644c6fa2f64c4c

so that I supposed that when I take the correction it will works.

I'm still looking for the solution.
I'm just wondering if version 2 is running on HTTP/2?
Is it mandatory?
My web server can not do it unless I get the enterprise solution, which I can not and will not afford.

HTTP/2 is part of the *sever* configuration, and nothing to do with the webtrees application.

webtrees doesn't know if the server using HTTP, HTTPS, HTTP/2, etc.

> My web server can not do it unless I get the enterprise solution, which I can not and will not afford.

I use "nginx" (as does 50% of the world).
Enabling HTTP/2 is just a case of changing one line in its config file.

I guess that most hosts will enable it by default, as it is faster.

No.

OK fine.
I cannot modify the server configuration because I use the personal plan from OVH www.ovh.co.uk/web-hosting/

What is my problem, so that I cannot use version 2? There must be a reason that I cannot use it currently?

Your server seems very slow.

It's taking 5 to 10 seconds to generate simple pages.

Specifically, it is generating the pages quickly, but taking a long time to send the responses.

This is unusual. The "receiving" time is usually close to zero.

When webtrees sends the request "import the next part of the tree",
there is a response "OK", but then there is a long delay before the connection
closes, and no data has changed.

Perhaps there is a timeout, which causes the database transaction to roll-back?

It's difficult to diagnose from here.
All I can say is that your server appears a little unhealthy.

> What is my problem, so that I cannot use version 2?

Do other applications work?
Does webtrees 1 work?

I have also Wordpress and in the past webtrees 1.7.14.
Because the Database hasn't enough capacity I delete 1.7.14 to change to 2.0b4.

I will reinstall 1.7.14 and see, if they are any difference.
I'll get back to you later.

Do you need a web hosting solution for your webtrees site?
If you prefer a host that specialises in webtrees, the following page lists some suppliers able to provide one for you:

You can now compare both version.
With 1.7.14 I don't have any problems.
The pages load fast. I can open the desired page.
And the "receiving" time is close to zero.

> the "receiving" time is close to zero.

Thanks. I can see the difference.

My guess is that the server process continues to run, after the response is sent.

This is interfering with the session / transaction handling.

I'm afraid I don't have a solution right now. It is difficult to investigate problems when you cannot reproduce them...

Side question for Greg:

What tool/tools are you using to get the data in the image you added a few posts ago when you mentioned the delayed receiving time? I use the developer tools in Chrome, but I'm always looking for ways to get more info, and I think I like the layout of yours better.

Thanks,

Bill Anderson
