I am trying to complete my webtrees website setup. There are a few questions for this moment.

I have in my gedcom file a list of family members, probably future users of the websites.
1 CHAN
2 _WT_USER johndoe@hotmail.com
Is there a way to upload a list of user names with assign person ID's. For example:
On my list I have the name and email address of John Doe. When John Doe registers his name on my tree and enters his email address, he can see his own record (preferable without first interaction by the administrator).
The gedcom tag CHAN mandatory needs a DATE. There is no DATE availlable unless John is not registered yet.

I have some events with a calculated date period. I can use
BET 1 JAN 1900 AND 23 MAR 1902
but March 23, 1902 is a calculated date. I can use
CAL 23 MAR 1902
But it seems impossible to use
BET 1 JAN 1900 AND CAL 23 MAR 1902
Any other suggestions?

In my media I have several file types: human photos, documents, headstone photos, histories, etc.
Is it possible to disable one or more types for viewing (or omit for viewing) in the media slide on the homepage? The omitted file types should be visible when I visit the person's record.

Hope anyone can help me with (one of) my questions.

Kind regards,
Guido

Yes. The slide-show block has configuration options. Just select/de-select the types you want.

Correct. The GEDCOM specification does not allow this.

Personally, I do not think that CAL, INT, EST, ABT, etc. are useful.

The date is always the best opinion of the genealogist - based on the available sources.

How you arrive at this opinion is your judgement, and should be obvious from the sources.

If this conclusion is not obvious, then add a note.

> The gedcom tag CHAN mandatory needs a DATE.

GEDCOM requires a DATE.
webtrees is happy if the DATE is missing.

But I don't understand what you are doing.
You are creating CHAN records for things that will change in the future?

Do you have 1000s of users?

When you approve a new user, it takes very little time to select the individual in the tree.

I do not see the benefits of what you are asking.

There can be many people with the same name, or someone can register with a different email.
So, the admin must always check the details...

On my (Dutch) website I found these options. Do I have to use these (Dutch) description in my gedcom as object type?
In other words: how does webtrees if a media file is a tombstone, a newspaper or a photo?

In the coming days we have a family meeting. I am very happy if many family members subscribes for an account and they immediately can see there own record. May be there is another way to connect an account subscription onto a person record in the tree in advance, so that - without my interaction at the meeting - the new subscription immediately can see his/her own record.

How do I create a connection between a possible future subscription of This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to the personal record of John Doe?

My gedcom syntax checker reports that
1 CHAN
2 _WT_USER johndoe@hotmail.com
requires a date. Now I know that webtrees is happy without a date. Thanks.

My tree has 75,000 persons. The family meeting is about 100 people. Not everyone is creating an account.

Thanks for your help. I revoke this sub question.

When you add/edit a media object, there is an option to select this.

This "media type" is part of the GEDCOM specification:

I think some types are missing, not a question for webtrees of course.
A deed now I stored as a fiche, but I think that isn't correct.

In the slideshow I see a slide. Below the slide I expected the title (gedcom tag TITL), but it displays the filename including path. How can I set to display the title?

It should show the title.

What is the GEDCOM for this record?

The gedcom record is e.g.:
0 @M36@ OBJE
1 FILE documenten\bijlsma_albert_1853_en_tiemersma_tjitske_1865_huwelijksakte.jpg
1 FORM jpg
1 TITL huwelijksakte Albert Bijlsma (1853) en Tjitske Tiemersma (1865)
1 TYPE document

and my website displays: documenten\bijlsma_albert_1853_en_tiemersma_tjitske_1865_huwelijksakte.jpg

OK - this is actually invalid GEDCOM.

GEDCOM allows a media object to contain many files, e.g. scans of two sides of a document.

(FYI, webtrees 2 supports multiple files per media object).

The FORM/TITL/TYPE fields should therefore be stored as sub-tags of the FILE object. e.g.
0 @M36@ OBJE
1 FILE documenten\bijlsma_albert_1853_en_tiemersma_tjitske_1865_huwelijksakte.jpg
2 FORM jpg
3 TYPE document
2 TITL huwelijksakte Albert Bijlsma (1853) en Tjitske Tiemersma (1865)
