branches was created by mariannevanharten
For one of my relatives I want to create access to modify only his branche in the family tree. How do I do that?
He should have full access over that branche.
Best regards.
Guido

In the current v. 1.7.4, you can authorize them as an Editor - "This role has all the permissions of the member role, plus permission to add/change/delete data. Any changes will need to be reviewed by a moderator, unless the user has the “automatically accept changes” option enabled."
OR... As an Editor (if I understand it correctly,) you can identify them to an individual record, and restrict them - "Where a user is associated to an individual record in a family tree and has a role of member, editor, or moderator, you can prevent them from accessing the details of distant, living relations. You specify the number of relationship steps that the user is allowed to see. For example, if you specify a path length of 2, the individual will be able to see their grandson (child, child), their aunt (parent, sibling), their step-daughter (spouse, child), but not their first cousin (parent, sibling, child). Note: longer path lengths require a lot of calculation, which can make your website run slowly for these users."
There are no other options as it stands now.
HOWEVER, unless designated as Moderator - "This role has all the permissions of the editor role, plus permission to accept/reject changes made by other users."
... you can instruct your relative that all additions or changes MUST be "approved," and that he/she must only modify his/her branch.

You can only set permissions for an entire tree.
You cannot set permissions for just some individuals in a tree.
So, you would need to create a new tree with just his branch....

My philosophy is to either trust an editor or not.
Give permussion (without me having to approve) or not.
Without trust, just let them email the info for you to enter.
Ofcourse editors need some training on how to use place structure, source citations, etc.

It's not always a matter of trust. I trust my editors to enter data correct to the best of their knowledge, but I don't necessarily trust them to properly enter the names, dates, and/or places. So I like to 'review' the data entry for format. Many of my editors feel more comfortable with this approach as well, as I assure them they "can't break anything" because I double-check the data entries.

Are there any plans to add functionality that allows to give access to chosen branches?

There are no plans to change this.
Here is one problem with the request - it is very easy for a user to bypass the restriction.
If a user is not allowed to edit an individual, then they simply have to do 2 extra steps.
1) adopt the individual
2) they now related! the individual can be edited
3) delete the adoption
