Hil all,

at the moment I have the feeling that my English skills have suddenly dropped to the level of a beginner. On github I can get information about various additional modules, for example the OpenStreetMap module by Richard Cissée.

If I follow the download link given there, I get a whole bundle of different modules. In the installation description there is unfortunately no hint, which parts of this bundle are exactly required, without unneeded parts being installed.

I would like to deactivate Google Maps and use only OSM. The displayed screenshot shows the parallel installation of Google Maps and OSM. Why that?

Can someone from the community help me? I have webtrees 1.7.13 with the theme justlight and the fancy treeview module installed.

Thank you very much in advance, all help is appreciated.

This is not dependent modules. Just install OSM and disable Google on /admin_modules.php page.

I'm using only OSM with disabled Google Maps and it's work great.

Thank you very much, UkusoFF, for your reply.

So I copied the folder openstreetmap_hooked to module_v3 and activated the module. A quick check resulted in an warning and a fatal error. The error message said that vesta_common_lib is required. I copied this folder also to module v3. The tab with OSM showed up in the family overview page, but within the tab content only a warning and a fatal error showed up. The error said hooks_repackaged is required. Back to FileZilla and uploaded this folder to modules_v3. No change in the appearance of family overview, but now showing no content in the OSM tab.

I think, I have to wait until detailed installtion instructions, readable for users not only for coders are available. Maybe somebody can guide me in the installation process. For now I habe deactivated OSM and returned to google maps (withoutout an API).

Not a good idea. People with the how-to knowledge will pass by and not participate, thinking it is solved, while it is not.

Did you previously had the googlemaps module showing content? I think you need similar steps in webtrees to let the map module know coordinates of place names.
stamboom.BertKoor.nl runs on webtrees v1.7.13

I am the author of these modules. I guess the description could be clearer overall, but it's basically all there:
Requires the Hooks module ('hooks_repackaged', or the original Hooks module via webtrees-geneajaubart).
Requires the 'vesta_common_lib' module.

In any case a support email address is also given, but you didn't use that either:
Support, suggestions, feature requests: <email address>

Anyway, your main remaining issue seems to be this: You want to deactivate the Google Maps module, which actually consists of two parts: It manages location coordinates of places in additional database tables, and it provides maps for these places. The OpenStreetMap module covers the second part. You still have to manage your location coordinates somewhere, e.g. in the Gedcom itself. If you want to access the location data from the deactivated Google Maps module, this is also possible and described in the module info:
The direct dependency to the Google Maps module has been removed. If you have collected location data via the Google Maps module, simply activate the 'Google Maps Module Location Data Provider' custom module to make this data available.

Seems it's not so true.

But I use this module and set longtitude/latitude in facts tab. It's work without enabled Google.

Readme also included:
For now, this module relies on the Google Maps module. In the future, the plan is to remove that requirement.

Thank You, Richard,

and sorry for my delated response.

If I had read it correctly in the announcement for WT 2.0 there will be OSM integrated. So I decided for this short time (I think) to switch off all map services. In the meantime I will add some new individuals and families. Then I do my own announcements for adding the map service and second for adding the GOV-Module if it is then available for WT 2.0.
