Today I am happy to announce the new release of the JustLight theme for webtrees 2!

I have tried to keep the original look and feel as much as possible and styled new parts according to the JustLight standards. Take a look at my website for a demo.

The JustLight options module will not return. It is easier now to modify parts of the header and the menu right from the control panel of webtrees.

I want to thank you all for your patience, because I've let you wait a long time for this release, but I hope you like it.

You can download the theme right away from Github . Grab the JustLight-2.0.7.zip file. I will soon update my website.

Thanks Carmen. Outstanding. Look forward to using again.

Looking at the 'new theme installation instructions' ( justcarmen.nl/help/new-theme-installation/ ) and looking at the code, can you confirm a few things
The theme files will be added to the themes directory and the theme options module will be added to the modules_v3 directory.

1. The download zip file ( github.com/JustCarmen/webtrees-theme-jus...t/archive/master.zip ) directory structure has
webtrees-theme-justlight-master
--> resources
--> src
--> compoese.json etc

Can you confirm all 2 folders and 14 files are supposed to go into the webtrees directory? Or is it just the resources diretory

2. The instructions reference module_3 but I thought the new format is module_4.

Do I need to rename to module_4 is using webtrees 2.x?

Apologies for posting here rather than github.com/JustCarmen/webtrees-theme-jus...ht/issues?state=open per the readme.md file. Happy to repost there is more appropriate.

Cheers.

I think you downloaded it from the wrong place ... the link she mentioned at the beginning was:

You have downloaded the development files. You should download the release version. Here is the direct link: github.com/JustCarmen/webtrees-theme-jus.../justlight-2.0.7.zip

Those instructions are for webtrees 1. I need to update my website, but I decided to focus on the release first.

The downloaded zip file contains one folder 'jc-theme-justlight'. Just unzip this folder in the modules_v4 folder and upload the newly added folder to your website.

*SOLVED* Superb. Thanks.

I had been putting the respective files in the resources subdirectory, rather than keeping in module_4 which was causing the problem.

We're up and running.

Again I am very thankful for this nice and helpful theme! It's the only which shows nice on smaller screens. With the others the left and right side of the page is cut of.
But with this theme is another problem. The bottom / footer line is jumping up into the middle of the page and laying behind as you can see in the screenshot.
Hope you find a solution and can help me please!
THX!

Which version do you use? Try version 2.0.7.2 released yesterday.

Thanks Martin for this advice. I just downloaded v2.0.7.2 once again, deleted the old dir and uploaded it. BUT the design still is like this.

When I look at your page on the desktop, everything is displayed correctly. But when I look at it on a tablet, the footer slips. Strange.

I am using Safari on a MacBook and iPad. On both the footer slips. Really strange and not pleasant!

The latest release should contain the fix which solves this problem, but apparently it is not solved for everyone.

The problem is, I can't reproduce the error. I've tested the code in different browsers and on a tablet and phone (android). I just looked at your website with my laptop, tablet and phone and it looks just fine in each device. I do not have access to an Iphone or Mac and it seems like the problem is related to those. The first person that reported the issue a few weeks ago was someone with an Iphone but she has tested the code on my request and confirmed the latest fix works. So at the moment I don't know but I will look into it again.

I don't have a webtrees 2 site running, but I did notice this issue and reported it on your github repo, maybe a week ago. Sorry I did not realize this only happens in Safari.
I'd like to assist in chasing down the cause, I sort of know where to look now and I check this forum once a day at least.

Here's a page I use for testing: www.helmutpaul.at/module/statistics_chart/Chart/paul
If there's a page I'd better look at containing the latest experimental code, please tell me.

The dev tool of Safari says the element <main id="content" class="wt-main-wrapper"> gets dimensions 1920x1920. So the footer gets placed right below that designated space.
Within "content" there's element <div class="container wt-main-container"> which has dimensions 1440x2953. So that extends all the way to the bottom, and it's vertical space should extend all the way down.

If I disable "height: 100vw" in class .wt-main-wrapper, then the footer gets placed neatly at the bottom. Also on a page that does not use all the vertical space like www.helmutpaul.at/tree/paul/family-list this places the footer right at the bottom of the screen instead of far below.

THX Bert for your test you did on my (my late fathers) genealogical website www.helmutpaul.at .
I just tested it on an office computer with windows and google chrome. Here everthing is nice, so the footer down at the bottom.
So it really seems to be a Safari problem and I would be glad if it could be fixed although I don't understand your wonderful detailed test results.
Looing forward to an updated version in github.
Thank you all for your effort you are doing for the community!

Hi Carmen, I have Safari on a mac, and I think I can see the cause of the problem.

You set a height here, that is specified in terms of the viewport width. This mix of height/width looks like a typo.

github.com/JustCarmen/webtrees-theme-jus...theme/_main.scss#L17

Removing this line fixes the footer position - but I didn't check to see if it breaks anything else.

It is conflicting with this code, which makes the body a mininum height - to keep the footer at the bottom of the page, even when the page is empty.

github.com/fisharebest/webtrees/blob/2.0...ss/_base.css#L87-L96

Hope this helps!

Greg, as always you nailed it i think. It looks like as silly as a typo...

I've changed vw in vh. It works for me, but I need someone to test it on a Mac/Iphone. Look at this page: webtrees-dev.justcarmen.nl/module/clippings/Show/dev
Is the footer sticked at the bottom there?

It is conflicting with this code, which makes the body a mininum height - to keep the footer at the bottom of the page, even when the page is empty.

I am afraid that doesn't work in all cases. When using the webtrees theme or any other default theme the footer is not sticked at the bottom. At least not in my case using chrome for windows.

Thank you Carmen for your specific work. I don't understand what you are doing in detail, but I can proof the result! On my MacBook, iPad and iPhone always using Safari the above mentioned website looks fine now. The footer is sticking to the bottom. On MacBook and iPad Safari shows the desktop Version, on the iPhone the mobile version where only the grey background of the footer is missing. I think this is wanted like this.Just to proof I ad two screenshots, as I had to scroll down.THANKS a lot, now waiting for the new version of this nice theme.

No. It is below the bottom of the page.
The "body" of the page is equal to the window height (100vh)
So, the footer is below the bottom of the page (the distance below the bottom is the height of the header).

Also, if I view a long page, I still see the footer in the middle.

If I remove "height: 100vh", I see the footer at the bottom of the screen (on short pages), and I see it below all the content (on long pages).

What is the intention of this markup? i.e. what breaks it is removed?
Perhaps you need "min-height" instead of "height"?

Hallo, I just tried to install the JustLight theme for 2.0.7 but:

After I copied the extracted resources directory over the existing one webtrees throws the following error:
