I'm thinking about programming a webtrees module which is a PHP-based telegram chatbot. This would allow to use a chat interface and ask questions like:
- when died my uncle Tom?
- tell me the brothers of my grandaunt Mary!
- show me pictures of the grandparents of John Doe!
- send me every morning a list of the anniversaries of the day!
What do you think about this?
For me this is the first step, the next step will be a speech interface: "Alexa, when died my uncle Tom?". Today I can ask my mother any question about our relatives and she knows everybody and has many dates in her mind. But whom should I ask when she will travel to heaven someday?
I have done a similar module as an interface to my home automation system. One important question will be the authentication of a telegram user as a webtrees user. Another one will be to find a flexible, powerful natural language processing engine.
I think a Webtrees chat module in connection with Telegram is a great idea. I already have several Telegram bots in use. One of my Telegram bot accesses the Joomla RSS feed on my website and posts the text in one of my Telegram groups. For example, if the Telegram bot could post Webtrees' daily birthdays to a Telegram group, I would really appreciate it.
If I understand correctly, Webtrees should be given voice control. I would appreciate it if the voice control would work via "Alexa" and "Ok Google".
