Mass import of Media was created by deanochips
I recently completed scanning all 2500 of our old black & white photos, i have sorted them into individual folders for each person.
it seams a bit ridiculous to have to import media one by one.

> import media one by one
You can upload them to the server in one go (using FTP).
Using the Control panel -> manage media, you can filter by "unused media".
Then, for each image, you need to
1) click "create media object"
2) type/paste the individual's ID
3) optionally type a title
4) click save
You are then back at the list of unused images, ready to repeat steps 1-4.
I'm not sure how to make this process any simpler.

Hi
if anyone is interested you can use it free or integrate it into webtrees:
I wrote a Batch Update which reads the filenames from directory on server and then assignes the files to the individuals.
Prerequisite: You should not change the IDs.
The files should have names like
Anna_Maria_Schmitz_<YYYY>_Ahnen_I695.jpg or
Anna_Maria_Schmitz_<YYYYMMDD>_Ahnen_I695.jpg
Since I learned php never really it's not perfect, but it does its job.
file has to be put to directory .....htdocs/app/Module/BatchUpdate and change extension to .php
media files to ...htdocs/data/media
After each new release the batch becomes invalid, so be prepared that it will not run with 1.7.4
