Hello together,

most of us are using webtrees, because it is one of the leading collaborative genealogy application.

Collaboration means, that many users are working on the same family tree, creating new persons and relations, adding new events or facts to existing persons.
The data of one person could be created by different users like puzzle pieces.

But in the current concept it isn’t possible to show, which puzzle piece was added when and by whom. webtrees documented only on record level the user who maintained the data last.

It would be great to do the same on event and fact level in future.

Best regards
Peter

From a GEDCOM standpoint events and facts do not have submitter information datapoints. This is to say that a fact/event can not record record data about who submitted a piece of data, unlike an Individual record which can record the submitter.

The best that we can do from GEDCOM standpoint is to record a name of a submitter as a note in the source-citation after the tree owner/moderator excepts the update into the database.

Hello Ken,

I know the possibilities and limitations of GEDCOM. For this reason I made following proposal a few weeks ago:
www.webtrees.net/index.php/en/forum/9-re...ate-and-member#60865

To avoid problems in other genealogical programs such user-defined tags (or better webtrees-defined tags) can be suppressed on demand by a parameter in the export routine of webtrees.
This approach allows us to add new functions to webtrees without violating the existing GEDCOM standard.

It would be interesting to know if other webtrees users have the same or a similar requirement.

Best regards
Peter
