Checkbox works fine for me,

BUT

I'm seeing a 500 status for a network call to img.secureserver.net, you don't have a googlemaps api key (maybe disable the module until you get one) and the interactive tree returns a blank page

Also

the following scripts are being added to the page (I assume from your host)
<script>'undefined'=== typeof _trfq || (window._trfq = []);'undefined'=== typeof _trfd && (window._trfd=[]),_trfd.push({'tccl.baseHost':'secureserver.net'}),_trfd.push({'ap':'cpsh'},{'server':'a2plcpnl0234'}) // Monitoring performance to make your website faster. If you want to opt-out, please contact web hosting support.</script>

<script src="https://img1.wsimg.com/tcc/tcc_l.combined.1.0.6.min.js"></script>

Thank you Dave,. How do I turn it off? I don't need the maps api. The only time I get the 500 error is when I only use my bridgestree.org url. While I love all the pointers, nobody has really said anything but "it works for me" with no kind of hint about where to look. Is there something about the maps api that would prevent the scrolling of facts?

It's somewhere in the webtres control panel. My guess is the list of Modules. You can simply disable place / location modules.

The maps function could throw an exception, causing the page to not render completely. So the buttons at the bottom could be missing for that reason: a function only showing for you fails and stops further rendering.

I'd suggest to allow Greg or Dave to log in to your site with editor privileges, and let them analyse the page source.
stamboom.BertKoor.nl runs on webtrees v1.7.13

Well spotted, Dave.

The whois info for bridgestree.org confirms that it is hosted at GoDaddy.

Googling aspects of this script gives lots of results which show that GoDaddy is inserting JavaScript into every page on its users' sites.

(WTF - your host is inserting its own code into all your pages!!)

Here's one or many examples - news.ycombinator.com/item?id=18894792

This link apparantly tells you how to disable it:

www.igorkromin.net/index.php/2019/01/13/...-and-how-to-stop-it/

Can you try doing this?

Your host is inserting javascript into your page - and scripts on the page are not working.
It could be a co-incidence... but it would be good to rule it out.

BTW - I use the uMatrix addon in my browsers, which prevent this script from loading.
It's why I didn't notice it when I first looked at your site.

Whilst I appreciate Bert's opinion of my abilities, I'm just a tinkerer, Greg is the craftsman, so alway follow his advice!

Just another thing which may be a result of these rogue scripts. If I go to your default individual (xref = I20), I get a completely blank page and looking a the source there is only the <head></head> section - no body at all .... until you hit the back button then you see the message

And finally I used my Android tablet to view your site last night, the events of close relatives toggle worked for me!

And finally finally, Bert is right you can disable the Googlemaps module from Control panel - modules - module administration, uncheck the module and save but I don't think this is causing problems, although as Greg says all the problems you're seeing seem to have a common link to Javascript

Thanks for the Real User Matrix tip. They have changed how to opt out, but I have managed to find it and opt out. My pages load faster now, but the add media popup page still comes out as a blank page.. I've even cleared everything for good measure on my browser and now I see there is no addition to my code.

I would be more than happy to grant someone admin access if they could get this figured out.

BTW It is not just my father's record that doesn't have the add a fact checkbox appearing. I went back to my paternal grandmother because I needed to add a fact about her, she was married before she married my grandfather but we don't know her husband's name and they had a daughter, but the checkbox was not there. Instead I just edited her name and added an also known as. On my father's record I need to add the fact that he died 2 years ago but can't.

Your server is running PHP 7.4

You are using webtrees 1.7 - which only runs on PHP 5.3 - 7.3

If you look in the logs (Control panel -> Website -> Website logs) you will see lots of PHP errors.
These are all caused by PHP version compatibility.

Does your control panel allow you to select which version of PHP you use?

If so, switch to PHP 7.3.

Do you need a web hosting solution for your webtrees site?
If you prefer a host that specialises in webtrees, the following page lists some suppliers able to provide one for you:
