I have several houndreds photos in my familyfile. How can theese follow the persons when I import my Gedcomfile? I use Legacy program, and have tested several sorts of gedcom formats. None photos where imported. Should I upload them to the mediafolder at the server manual? Webtrees 2.

Yes. Upload your photos to /data/media
You may also need to select "Remove the GEDCOM media path from filenames" when importing the GEDCOM. If not, you will have the wrong path, like E:/OneDrive/Dokumenter/Legacy Family Tree/Media
webtrees 2.0.6 at visitusinmaputo.com/webtree PHP 7.2.9
webtrees 2.0 dev on local WampServer PHP 7.3.1

So, I guess that your GEDCOM file contains lines like this

1 FILE \media\myphoto.jpeg

In this case, you should remove \media\

If your GEDCOM file does not contain any media objects, then you do not need this import option.

You said that your GEDCOM file does not contain any media...

> I can not find such line in my gedcom file.

Please check again.

If you see these 404 icons, then your GEDCOM file *does* contain media objects.

These records *will* have a line "1 FILE ..."

Thanks @HTN

@Haraldv - your GEDCOM file contains filenames like this.
1 FILE E:\OneDrive\Dokumenter\Legacy Family Tree\Media\Gjertrud4.jpg

This is the filename on your desktop computer.

This folder will not exist on your server. This is why webtrees cannot find it.

So. you should copy the files to the /data/media folder in webtrees, and
then tell webtrees to remove this path during the import.
E:\OneDrive\Dokumenter\Legacy Family Tree\Media\

(Use the same slashes that appear in your file, not the ones you see in webtrees).

Sorry, I give up......... I have tried so many different tips and advices....... still the same problems.
When I am ready to import, have written the gedcom filename, this line is empty. This linetext I cannot see before i am finished! I have tried to have it empty, different text in the line like yours suggestion, but the same result. This program is too difficult for me, even I have used computers since 1984......

Haraldv,

This is not a difficult concept.

In the GEDCOM file before you upload it to the server, the file contains a reference to the location of your media On your computer. This reference looks something like E:\OneDrive.....

On you server this location does not exist and therefore you must change the reference to be the location of the media files on your server.

This is what Greg (fisharebest) has told you to do. webtrees can do the change automatically for you as Greg said in his last entry.

Yes, but there are several hundreds of theese lines!! One for each photo! Maybe you should think what is best for user, not for an expert that have used the programs for years?

You are welcome to do it, you use my program if you want.

> Yes, but there are several hundreds of theese lines!

When you import the GEDCOM file, there is an option "media path to remove"

Enter this value

E:\OneDrive\Dokumenter\Legacy Family Tree\Media\

webtrees will modify *all* of them automatically when it reads the file.

You do not need to make 100 updates.
You do not need to edit the GEDCOM file.

Harald,

Did you import your GEDCOM again into webtrees with the parameter set as indicated by Greg? Or are you still looking at the old import?
