Hi.

I'm new to the forum but installed WT1.7 several years and just got back to the project. I have now upgraded to 2.06

My problem is new user registration fails.I just get a "Please Try Again" message. Nothing in error_log.

I have searched the forum with no luck.

This form has some built-protections to prevent against automated/robot submissions.

There are two checks:

1) the form needs to be submitted at least 3 seconds after it was shown.

2) the page needs to run some simple javascript, to copy a value from one hidden form field to another.

What browser are you using?
Do you use any plugins that might affect this. e.g. something that auto-fills forms?
Do you see any errors in your browser's error console?
Can you post the URL of your site so I can see if there is anything obviously wrong?

Ah ok. I was using Chrome but tried IE and it works. Sure enough Chrome console shows:

DevTools failed to load SourceMap: Could not load content for stillitano.com/familytree/public/js/vendor.min.js.map : HTTP error: status code 500, net::ERR_HTTP_RESPONSE_CODE_FAILURE

> DevTools failed to load SourceMap:

You can ignore this. It means that the dev tools are trying to load debug info from the server - which will only exist on dev builds of webtrees. It doesn't affect anything. It just allows the browser to display "prettier" error messages.

OK - my guess is that chrome (or a chrome plugin?) is doing something "clever".

Does it work if you use an "incognito mode" window in chrome?

So, I'm guessing that a browser plugin is doing something.

Perhaps it is auto-filling the hidden fields?

Try disabling all the browser plugins, and re-enabling them one at a time?

I have seen the Privacy Badger extension do this.
