Did you try a second time?
Did you get the same error?

When I tried the second time, I get a 503 error instead of webtrees coming up. I then deleted the offline.txt file and was uable to login to my database but did not have the updated version.

Sorry for not answering sooner. (Busy with work.)

If you haven't already, then I suggest a manual upgrade.

I was able to perform the manual upgrade except that it took about 2 hours to copy the vendor folder at gigabit speed.

When I attempt to login during the upgrade process, I doin't see the upgrade in process message but only see the 503 error displayed.

Any help in getting the automatic upgrade to work would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

The vendor folder is about 60MB. The bottleneck is presumably at your web-server?

If it is failing when copying files, then perhaps you do not have permission to overwrite files?

On many servers, PHP scripts run as a unprivileged user account (often called www-data).
This user will not have permission to overwrite files (which are owned by *your* user account).

BTW - many sysadmins prefer this style of setup precisely because it prevents PHP scripts from overwriting themselves.

To test this, look in the data folder for files/folders that have been created by webtrees. e.g. "/data/cache".
Is the file owner the same as, say, /index.php?

Both data/cache and index.php have the same owner. Should that allow the copy to work?

What should the owner be to allow the copy to work?

If that owner is your own user account, and not a system account - then probably.

And if you aren't running any security software. e.g. selinux
