The tables used for search results and Individual or Family member lists contains a column for "surname" but I never see this actually used, even on the Demo site

There are times it might be useful to sort results by surname, but if I have that many search results I generally change the criteria and re-try.

When is it populated? If it is not needed, perhaps it could be removed and the space distributed across the other columns?

We do not have two columns: given names / surnames.

We only have one column for "full name".

But the column header is split into two, so that you can click on it to sort by given-name or surname.

OK- thanks for the explanation. It always looked like another column so I never tried using as you mentioned.
