Hello Forum,
we are a group of several genealogists working together on some trees using Webtrees V1.7. Now we want to upgrade to V2.0 and we have the following questions:

We have a privacy setting that each of us when logged in can see all the details of the selected tree. An anonymous user can't see the details for living individuals but also all sources and notes are invisible for him/her when they are on Gedcom level 1 (1 NOTE xxx). Notes on level 2 are visible (2 NOTE xxx). Another thing which is hidden are the exact dates of events so that only the years are displayed.

Our questions are:
- Is it possible with V2.0 to hide sources and notes for anonymous users?
- Is it possible with V2.0 to hide the exact dates of events and to show the years only instead?
- Do we need extra Plugins to do this?
- Where can we setup our privacy settings?

Thanks a lot in advance,
M. Born

The privacy functions didn't change from 1.7 to 2.0.
So, your configuration to hide notes and sources will work the same.

This wasn't a config option in 1.7. How did you achieve this? By modifying the code yourself?

Control panel -> Family trees -> YOUR TREE -> Privacy

Hello,
thanks again for the fast reply. know that our admin changed the code somewhere to hide the exact dates. He got the information to hide it here in this forum (www.webtrees.net/index.php/en/forum/2-op...ating-of-date-fields). If the privacy settings didn't change then it also should work in V2.0.

We choose all this settings to show the public that we have a lot of information. But instead of just "give them away" we want to get in contact with the users and also want to get their input so we can add missing information.

Thanks again,
M. Born

The code for dates didn't change, so if that modification worked
in 1.7, then it should also work in 2.0.

Thanks for the confirmation. Maybe this also would be an enhancement for a future version....

Hello MarcoBorn,

another possibility is to create a separate family tree (export/import), which contains only the data that should be shown to visitors. Outside of webtrees, the GEDCOM file can then be reduced or adapted accordingly with a suitable tool.
It is possible in a family tree to display only certain events for visitors via settings, but these events are then displayed completely, with all data and the full date.

Best regards
Peter
