On Webtrees 2.0.11

From menu item "Lists", I select "Families"
I click on the letter "G", one of the families listed is "Guss", spouses column says "5".
I click on the word "Guss" and get "no records to display". This also happens
with several other families.

The dataset was migrated from Webtrees 1.7.17, (still running in a separate VM)
so that I can compare actions back and forth. In 1.7.17, clicking on the family name
Guss, displays the correct three individuals.

I followed the instructions to convert and don't think I missed anything. Has
anyone else seen this?

Thanks

Are you logged in?

The counts do not consider privacy - it would be too slow to check the privacy of every individual in your site.

So, it is possible that you have 5 private individuals with the surname Guss.

If not, then can you post a link to your site so I can look?

Wow, now that's service! I'll check the privacy settings, that sounds very
plausible. I don't have a hole punched through my firewall for the dev version
running 2.0. But I appreciate the offer!

If I can't fix it with privacy settings, I'll modify my router firewall and get
back to you. Thanks again.

BTW, is there an explanation of privacy changes from 1.7 to 2.0. I don't think I saw that.

I just realized what you meant by "Are you logged in?". You mean to Webtrees.
Yes! I don't have a guest method enabled. And I am an administrator, so I was
surprised that there could be a security issue. By the way, if I search for the
family name in the search box at the top of the screen, I can find and view the
individuals that did not show up in the "List Families".

Does that help?

Nope. It works the same.

Perhaps all 5 of these individuals have Guss as a married name (not a birth name).

If so, click the "Include married names" link on the family-list page.

There are three individuals that were born Guss, and I have
include married names selected anyway. I have enabled my
dev server on a different port. How can I send you credentials
privately?

There was obviously some database corruption caused by the automatic "update" of the database from Webtrees 1.7 to Webtrees 2.0.
I exported the GEDCOM from Webtrees 1.7. Then I removed the database from MySQL, recreated the database, and deleted the
Webtrees config.ini.php file.

Then Webtrees went into the wizard, I recreated the family tree from scratch, then imported the GEDCOM that I exported
from Webtrees 1.7. There was one "double-entry" of an individual, I don't know how that happened. So, I edited the GEDCOM
in a text editor, removed the duplicate IND record, and imported the GEDCOM again ( with keeping media data ).

The resulting tree looks like what I expected and all of the Family List bugs that I saw previously are now gone.

I hope this helps anyone else with the same problem.

Well, interesting that you say that.
I auto-updated to 1.7.17 just before I tried the update to 2.0.
I assumed the problem happened when I went to 2.0, but
maybe it happened when I updated to 1.7.17. ???

If you have good backups, you could try to export the GEDCOM,
delete the database, recreated it, and import the GEDCOM - as I did.
That fixed whatever the issue was for me.

I guess you could create another tree also, then import the GEDCOM to that new tree
and not risk further corruption to your existing tree.

Good luck.
