Facts and events ⚶ Facts and events Families ⚶ Families Sources Notes Media Album Interactive tree Stories ⚶ Places

In English:
I am trying to figure out how to work with the Vesta modules.
How do I define a specific place in my gedcom so that the vesta module can find the city on the world map?
How do I prevent the standard webtrees module from appearing next to the Vesta module in the menu bar of my website?

Best regards,
Marianne

Hi,
I don't know the answer to your first question but for the second question you can go to the Control Panel go to All Modules. Untick Places and click Save.

Hi Marianne,

the Vesta module SharedPlaces works with _LOC records. I know, you are using GedTool. There is a function to clean-up PLAC tags and create _LOC records out of them.

An overview about Vesta location data management you will find here .

Best regards
Peter

There are different options - See the overview here . If you decide to use top-level shared places, note that there are several data fixes available which use existing data, so you don't have to re-enter all map coordinates.

My gedcom now has a lot of _LOC entries, thanks to GedTool. I've loaded this gedcom into my tree.
Many places don't have (correct) settings, so I am trying to collect data from other modules, but I do not know how to do this. Any help is appreciated.

If this is about missing map coordinates: There is a data fix for this via Vesta shared places ("Enhance existing shared places with tree-independent data"). This will only add missing map coordinates though, not replace incorrect data.

Otherwise, please give an example of what you have and what you want to achieve.

Most records don't have location data. There are a few items with incorrect data; I'll correct that manually.
Where can I find the data fix?

All data fixes are available in the control panel, this particular one is:

Thank you @ric2015, I've found that option.
Regular I work with the Dutch interface; if I have to follow the instructions - given in English - it's easier to find the right option when I switch to the English interface.

What should be the most convenient option to search for the GOV ID's in whole my tree?

I think this is currently only possible via the data fix "Search and replace" (search for '_GOV'), but there is no optioon to search within locations (shared places). Why do you want to do this?

Please visit the page of my ancestor . You'll see many places without details. It seems I had to visit all pages of individuals in my tree and look for for undefined places. That is inconvenient, I think...

In the list of shared places, latitude/longitude is shown - However, currently this only displays coordinates entered directly (not via GOV). I may have to adjust this.

You can also enable the "Vesta Places and Pedigree map module" (which is a good idea anyway if you use GOV and/or shared places) - this module shows you which (shared) places have map coordinates.
