In the title of shared notes, markdown is not translated.

The title is displayed twice when unfolding, but then including markdown formatting.

Is this by design? Wouldn't it be better if the first line is only displayed once including formatting?

Since a “NOTE” record does not have a Title tag, we use the first line as the title without markdown. Then when you expand the note, markdown is used and the first line is redisplayed with the rest of the note.

Thank you for the answer. But it doesn't make much sense to display the first line unformatted and twice when expanding the note. On the one hand, this is redundant without additional information and on the other hand, it looks unattractive or even unreadable for the visitor.

The same applies to the list of shared notes, where the first line in the overview is also used and the Markdown formatting is not implemented. The user should no longer see the formatting markup after all!

In v1.7 this was solved in a more understandable way.

> But it doesn't make much sense to display the first line unformatted

There is a reason for this.

It is possible for the first line to contain a link to another record. To embed the link, we must calculate the name of the other record. This causes an infinite loop. e.g.

0 @X1@ NOTE Part one (see @X2@)

0 @X2@ NOTE Part two (see @X1@)

There was a bug report for it, and the only available fix was to disable markup when generating the "name" (i.e. first line) of a note.

Well, not a great solution. All formatting in the first line becomes obsolete. The display of the Markdown code for the visitor does not work at all.

Is it possible to omit the duplication of the first line when unfolding?

I agree. How would you solve the recursive names issue?

> Is it possible to omit the duplication of the first line

It's not strictly duplicated.

The first line is the name - which is text only and only the first part of the first line.
The expanded version is the formatted text.

These will often be the same - but not always.

I think ric2015's suggestion would be a good implementation.

In my case, I only have relatively short first lines, as these are also used in the list of shared notes. Since formatting of the first line is no longer used, I have now removed it in all notes. Not perfect, but without visible Markdown formatting for the visitor.
