I am guessing my version of Apache 2.2.29 is not compatible? Or maybe my version MySQL (not sure on the version). My webserver is on a pretty out of date iMac that can't really be upgraded. So . . .

Also, I usually have to set the database password and whatnot manually, but I don't see any configuration file. I suppose that is automated in the set up wizard that doesn't seem to want to work for me.

You don't say at what point you get the 500 error.

On the very first page, after you have answered the questions from the setup wizard, etc.

There is some general advice on 500 errors at webtrees.net/faq/500/

Your apache version is unlikely to make any difference.

Very old MySQL versions (e.g. pre InnoDB) will have a problem due to lack of support for foreign keys. But you'd have gotten a specific error for that.

An out-of-date version of PHP is more likely.

But you'll need to check your apache error logs for an error message for us to be able to help you.
