How and which file I can modify to add a search possibility in the "place of ..." fields when searching for a person using "Advance Search"
The input is easier, the search too.

Aha, you mean the autocomplete function.

Check this topic: Autocomplete Places - Geographic Data .

There you will find a solution by tkempf: his AutoCompletePlaceLocation module .

I think the to has another problem, because my module was not yet existant for 1.7.x.
Perhaps he used geonames or another module...
The Autocomplete function seems to work fine in my 2.1.2 Installation.

I try your module "AutoComplete places via PlaceLocation" with webtrees 2.1.2 and 2.1.3-dev
I do'nt use any "GeoNames" module.
I don't have other module in Module_V4
but these fields don't give me any suggestion.

It look like that your module don't work for me for these fields "Place of ..." .

Greg tell me to do an issue

github.com/fisharebest/webtrees/issues/4406

but maybe i should do something else.

- Nginx 1.22.1
- PHP 8.2.7
- MariaDB 10.11.6
- Webtrees 2.1.19
- Raspberry Pi 5
Modules : jc-fancy-imagebar, jc-fancy-treeview, vesta, faces, fan-chart, pedigree-chart, descendants-chart, hh_extended_family

It seems you are right. The autocomplete module hook does not get called for advanced search page. But since it is a search funtion, you could just search for a part of the place string and find the corresponding results anyhow. I personally would not bother not having autocomplete here...

But when you want to search for people born, married or deceased in a place it is necessary, because the place names are sometimes very close and the syntax sometimes not known by the visitors or members of the tree

for me, it is as important as in the input

- Nginx 1.22.1
- PHP 8.2.7
- MariaDB 10.11.6
- Webtrees 2.1.19
- Raspberry Pi 5

A wildcard search for places is always done, even if you enter only one letter. So you do not have to enter the complete place. refinement can be done later.
