Not sure if I ask here or on launchpad, but can I ask for the autocomplete on second source citation entry bug to have an increased priority, please?

I am adding a lot of second sources and it is somewhat frustrating having entered a source citation for one individual to then have to re-enter it for the next individual (yes I know I can use copy and paste!) or later in the day, and then find it recognised as already existing by webtrees.

Thanks for all the hard work you put in, team. It is much appreciated.

I've looked at this bug several times, but have never encountered the problem myslef, nor been able to reproduce it.

You could create a GEDCOM file with sources/citations/data that demonstrates the problem and attach it to the bug report.....

The problem can be reproduced on the demo site (both stable and SVN).

Onbly one attachment allowed - the picture in my first post is the correct behavior, now the wrong.

Hi Greg,

I can confirm this bug is real and exists on my website. Each time I add a second source to an event, the "auto complete" of the source citation field does not work at all.

Hi,

When I add a second source to an event, webtrees displays source citations from the first source instead of the second. In the case below, webtrees listed source citations of my S9 instead of S766

Hi,

As you can see in the screen capture, webtrees listed « Enregistrement de mariage xxxx » which in this case is not useful at all because I was adding a second source to the death tag. S766 is burial registers.

Also, S9 is -> Institut généalogique Drouin website, and from them I get all kinds of documents not only marriages but also baptismals, obituaries, etc.

Here is what webtrees should display when I select the source S766, and it does when S766 is the first source added.

Do you need a web hosting solution for your webtrees site?
If you prefer a host that specialises in webtrees, the following page lists some suppliers able to provide one for you:

I know this sounds crazy but my test on my SVN system worked correctly, it auto filled the second citation and after the update it displayed what I entered.

I don't test on SVN and perhaps it is fixed in SVN, I can't tell.

Why the small "s" instead of CAPS ? "s" and "S" are not the same character for XREFs, but rather distinct characters. You could have a SOUR s1 and S1 and they would be different.

Doesn't work at all for me. 2nd SOUR entry picks up only the AUTOCOMPLETE options from the first SOUR, not a second, different SOUR entry.

I know that "s" and "S" are different. Both snapshot are from the demo-site. I dont know why there are used smal "s"s.

Have you tried the demo site? I realy do not believe that this bug is browser/client related, but who knows?

Here's my attempt at replicating the problem on the demo-stable (just completed):

I added an extra birth record to QEQM with two birth England and Wales birth index sources.
  • the first citation was "test 1"
  • the second citation was "test 2"

I added an extra birth record to QEII with two birth England and Wales birth index sources
  • the first citation was "test 3"
  • the second citation was "test 4"

I then added an extra birth record to Princess Margaret, with two sources.
Having entered "test" in the first citation field, I was offered "test 1" and "test 3".
Having entered "test" in the second citation field, I was offered "test 1" and "test 3".
When I entered "test 2" in the second citation field, "test 2" was recognised.
When I entered "test 4" in the second citation field, "test 4" was recognised.

Ideally what I want to happen is that in either the first or second citation field, I am offered all options: "test 1", "test 2", "test 3" and "test 4".

I tested in IE & Chrome.

Hope that helps. Greg if you pick this up before the demo is refreshed you'll only have to do the last step!

From the INDI record: svn.webtrees.net/demo-svn/individual.php?pid=i1&ged=demo QEII

Added two new sources. Neither has had any entries and there should be no Autocomplete suggestions associated with either new SOUR in the CITE field.

Enter the s3 SOUR designation and tab to CITATION field. Type "D" and all of the s1 (wikipedia) citations appear as suggestions.

Hello,

This is indeed quite easy to reproduce, by following the steps given by Stephen.
Please see my comment #7 in the bug report for the cause of the issue, and a possible way to fix it.

Regards.
