Hello ToyGuy,
thank you for offering to review my Gedcom.
Attached is the "cleaned" Gedcom which I used as input for webtrees.

Email it to me, using my profile. Do not post information here as it would become public

The problem is upper/lower case filenames.

The GEDCOM file refers to "Gentzsch-Peter.jpg", but the file is actually called "gentzsch-peter.jpg"

On Windows desktop compters, these are the same file. On a Linux server, these are different files.

Great! - This is the answer!!
I generated the Gedcom file by a Windows-Program, and did not realize that all jpg-files had capital letters!
When I change the names everything went fine!
The only nuicance left is that I still have to eliminate most of the leading media path in the Gedcom file; but at least it works!
I should like to thank all participants in this discussion!! - I probably would never have found the answer alone!

PS: Do I need to do anything to close this issue?

Great. No, we don't officially 'close' threads as the entire forum is designed to serve as a searchable knowledge base for others. That's why the SUBJ is so important for all posts.

As we have discussed, several methods for removing the prefixes:
1) Batch Update - Search and replace
2) Export and import and specify the prefix for removal upon import
3) Export and use a good text editor that doesn't add extra characters or BOMs, then reimport.
