Hello!

Is it possible to set the coding data (names, names of places) in the webtrees administration page?
The names etc. displays badly, and I wanted to change the ISO-8859-1 to ISO-8859-2.

webtrees uses UTF8 for everything.

A GEDCOM file contains a header which specifies the encoding that it uses. When you import a GEDCOM file, the data is converted into UTF8.

Near the top of the file, you should see a line such as "1 CHAR XXXX" which specifies the encoding used in the file.

If this is wrong, change it to "1 CHAR LATIN2"

Thank you very much.

After the GEDCOM file is loaded, there appears information
"This GEDCOM file is encoded using ANSI. Assume this to mean ISO-88590-1."
Why the webtrees itself determines what encoding choose, and not allow the user to make a choice?

Only in the file is the ability to change coding?
Is it not possible to do this on the administration page?

This is because your GEDCOM file says that it is encoded using ANSI.

1 CHAR ANSI

ANSI does not mean anything. There is no official "ANSI" encoding.

webtrees assumes CP1252/LATIN1 - because it has to do something, and LATIN1 is the most common.

Correct. webtrees uses UTF8 for *everything*. We convert to UTF8 when we load data.

If your GEDCOM specifies "1 CHAR ANSI", then you must change it to "1 CHAR LATIN2".

There is no other option.
