Is the dated historical facts display feature still available in v1.7.x? If so, how is it configured?

The language codes changed from an underscore to a hyphen.

So, if your file was called histo.en_US.php, you need to rename it to histo.en-US.php

Previously, I developed a histo.en_US.php file with contents an array of "1 EVEN\n2 TYPE ..." records and placed it in the data directory, resulting in a tic box (adjacent to the "events of close relatives" tic box at the top of the facts and events tab) for use in displaying/hiding the historical events. I now have the close relatives tic box but not the histo tic box. How do I enable it? I can't locate anything in the control panel pages.

Hi all,

I have tried tu create a basic histo file from scratch using exactly the code of this page of wiki : wiki.webtrees.net/en/Historical_Facts

I have named it : histo.fr-FR.php

ant it contains :

<?php
// File: /data/histo.xx.php (where xx is a language code such as "fr" or "en_GB")
// Display historical facts on the personal facts tab of the individual page
// Each line is a GEDCOM record to describe an event.
// Events must contain dates, and will only be shown if the individual was alive on that date.

if (!defined('WT_webtrees')) {
   header('HTTP/1.0 403 Forbidden');
   exit;
}

 $histo[] = "1 EVEN\n2 TYPE Front populaire\n2 DATE 03 MAY 1936\n2 NOTE Victoire du Peuple
 (http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Front_populaire_%28France%29)";

But nothing special appears and I have only the case events of near family.

Do you know where the problem is ?

TIA.

The filename must agree with the (internal) language code. Use "fr", not "fr-FR"

Thank you. But I have renamed the file as "histo.fr.php" but without success.

Is there something else to do ?

Edit : ok. It has appeared. Sorry. May be the cache of firefox. Thank again

Do you need a web hosting solution for your webtrees site?
If you prefer a host that specialises in webtrees, the following page lists some suppliers able to provide one for you:

It will be included when you are using French language. For English you should create histo.en.php (or histo.en-GB.php or histo.en-US.php).

I'm using for example the following form and then a click on the link behind "wikipedia" works:
$histo[] = "1 EVEN\n2 TYPE Schlacht bei Gestilren\n2 DATE 17 JUL 1210\n2 NOTE Erik X. besiegt Sverker II. in Schweden; siehe [wikipedia](https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schlacht_bei_Gestilren)";

So the [symbolic link] before the (web address) is necessary.
webtrees 2.0.16 (all available custom modules installed, php 7.4.15, MySQL 5.6) @ ahnen.hartenthaler.eu/
and webtrees 1.7.18 (many custom modules) @ ahnen1.hartenthaler.eu/

I have:

$histo[] = "1 EVEN Mexican-American War\n2 TYPE Historical Event\n2 DATE FROM 1846 TO 1848\n2 PLAC Texas, USA\n2 NOTE The Mexican-American War was an armed conflict between the United States of America and the United Mexican States from 1846 to 1848 in the wake of the 1845 U.S. annexation of Texas, which Mexico considered part of its territory despite the 1836 Texas Revolution - goo.gl/dGxJ1k \n2 OBJE @M4970@";

For an example, see www.adkins.ws/individual.php?pid=I10468
I am not clear on the purpose of "the [symbolic link] before the (web address)?"
hermann: I changed the format for "Trail of Tears," but it doesn't appear any different?

As a separate issue, under Control Panel > Manage family Trees > Individual Pages > Show events of close relatives on individual page ... we have the option of selecting events to be shown.
I would like to have a similar option to select "Show Historical facts" by default. (Perhaps this should be a feature request?)
Alternatively, how can I modify which file to check this "tick" option by default?

hi herman

thank you very much for your aid

the true syntax for my exemple is $histo[] = "1 EVEN\n2 TYPE Front populaire\n2 DATE 03 MAY 1936\n2 NOTE [Victoire du Peuple](fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Front_populaire_%28France%29)";

the text must be between [] .

you can also have a link in notes of events like this [Victoire du Peuple](fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Front_populaire_%28France%29)

Okay, I understand you wanted to "label" the link. (I missed that.)
Still would like to know how to "turn on" the 'Historical facts' by default.

There is no such option at present.
