Until a few hours ago I was still able to work normally with webtrees 1.7.14 (webtrees has been running smoothly for years).
Now I get the following error message:

SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] No such file or directory

hermsdoerfer.familyds.com/hermsdoerfer/

I haven't changed anything: config, right. Access with phpmyadmin works correctly.

Thank you very much for help
Dietmar

The error message often means that you are trying to connect to MySQL using a "socket" (a special type of file),
and that this file does not exist.

The alternative is to connect using a network connection.

What host/connection settings do you use in phpmyadmin and in webtrees. Are they the same?

With the standard parameter in config.ini.php is dbhost="localhost" no longer works. After I changed the parameter to dbhost="127.0.0.1" webtrees works without problems:

hermsdoerfer.familyds.com/hermsdoerfer/

The question: What happened yesterday afternoon on my server? Why is localhost suddenly a non-functional parameter?

Thank you very much for help

127.0.0.1 = connect to the same server using a network connection
localhost = connect to the same server using a socket (a special file).

> The question: What happened yesterday afternoon on my server? Why is localhost suddenly a non-functional parameter?

I guess the server configuration changed. Perhaps an upgrade?

Only the server administrator can answer that question.

The page shows a 503.
I see that your web site is working.
Can you tell me what you changed?

I changed the dbhost-parameter in the file config.ini.php from "localhost" to "127.0.0.1"

PS: In hermsdoerfer.familyds.com/hermsdoerfer/ you find also the family tree of my greek wife

Same problem, same solution. Also hosted on a Synology NAS. Maybe the latest Synology update introduced this change?

Do you need a web hosting solution for your webtrees site?
If you prefer a host that specialises in webtrees, the following page lists some suppliers able to provide one for you:

Dietmar, sorry while rushing to get the system working again, I didn't notice that what you wrote about having a Greek wife.
My regards to you as that can either be a blessing or a curse!

yann64, I am wondering about that too but am happy that it is working again.
If I see anything else strange happening, I will write a post at the new synology forum to see if anyone else has seen this type of problem.
I also have a copy of my cms working on it but it did not stop working.
