I can't see this covered elsewhere, so perhaps someone could help me?

My webtrees site stopped working, in that although my URL was active, I only got blank pages. I tried a few things, and then decided to completely delete all files on my server and re-install. I downloaded ver 1.7.14, went through the installation procedure and everything seemed OK, except that I had password difficulties. All that was solved, except that when I went back into the site after importing an updated GEDCOM, I got this message on both Firefox and Edge:

Fatal error: Class 'Fisharebest\Webtrees\File' not found in /freeola/users/5/3/username/htdocs/app/I18N.php on line 437

I'm running Windows 10

Any ideas how I can fix this?

Hopefully

Lloyd

> I downloaded ver 1.7.14

I guess you didn't copy all the files.

You appear to be missing at least one - app/File.php

I recommend that you re-copy *all* the files to the server, as there may be others missing.

Thanks for the reply Greg!

While I was waiting I decided to delete and start all over again. Now I can't get past the first setup screen! I keep getting this message:

SQLSTATE[28000] [1045] Access denied for user 'sr1935435'@'freeolaweb5.freeola.co.uk' (using password: YES)

I know I have the right user name and password as I can easily log on through Filezilla.

Oh, and I checked my file copying this time!

Best

Lloyd

Then maybe you have the wrong host.

If you tried "localhost", try "127.0.0.1" (or vice versa).

Thanks again Greg - I tried both and I tried the name of the actual server (see my first message).

I know I'm missing something, but I can't see what it is! It's annoying my website worked for ages, then it just went blank the other day. Now I can't even set it up again.

Unless you are 100% certain that your db server is a different machine to your webserver, I suggest you also try both localhost and 127.0.0.1

I don't know anything 100% :-)

It's just that my server provider tells me to use the actual server address for FTP, so I thought that might help. It doesn't, neither does localhost or 127.0.0.1

Using my URL should be sufficient to get onto the right server though, so localhost should work surely.

It's never that simple.

MySQL accounts have two parts. The name (sr1935435) and a host/ip-range/domain-name/etc.

Your account name is therefore sr1935435@<something>

Authenticate involves matching both the password and the remote connection.

If the password is correct, then MySQL is telling you that freeolaweb5.freeola.co.uk isn't matching <something>

Thanks again Greg.

I think I'll give it up for the night now and try a totally new installation again tomorrow. I've looked and looked and can't see where the mis-match is. I tried a really simple minded ftp://etcetc in my browser and that worked fine to get to the server. I know it's there!!

So I don't know - thanks for the trouble and the comments; I realize you can't see what I'm actually typing to perhaps pick up some obvious error!

I may be back! Night for now.

Hi Greg

Just to complete the story - I did have to have an actual MySQL data server entered. Once I used the correct one, and it wasn't any of the variations I'd tried, all was well!

Thanks again for your help - your advice was correct, I just had to find out which bit I was entering incorrectly.
