I am struggling on how to do some footnotes for citations.
### Markdown Test

Shouldn't this generate a regular footnote link that jumps to[1]

[1]: 1 Footnote content goes here about the Footnotes

When I enter this and save the note I get this:

This is a note on the name for the individual and can be found here:
links to my website note

My question is how to write a clickable link for a footnote.
I tried the above but I am not getting it to work in markdown.

However, if there is a better citation method (like Cite) that is easer to use to generate footnotes. Is there a way to superscript them like this1?

It might be easier to understand what is happening if you posted a link to your site so we can see what is happening.

There are many dialects of "markdown".

webtrees uses a library that follows the "CommonMark" standard. commonmark.org/

If I recall correctly John Gruber's library is not compatible with commonmark, so the documentation on the daring fireball site may not be relevant.

I edited the original post a simple example and link to my site.

Thank you for clarifying which standard is supported.

Still confused why mine doesn't work.

As far as I can tell, you can create the link in mardown, but not the anchor tag.

e.g. talk.commonmark.org/t/anchors-in-markdown/247
