When I click on any daily date next to BAPT fact, I see "Total individuals: 0". When I do the same with date for BIRT tag, I see "Total individuals: 1" and corresponding person is listed.

Is there any particular reason why not all facts are considered when rendering "On this day…" view?

Is the list of tags supported in this view known? Can someone provide it?

Is there any way (configuration; not by altering source code) to change that list or to force webtrees to support all facts-like tags in "On this day…" view?

A lot of the behaviour of webtrees was inherited from it's predecessor, PhpGedView. The "on this day" block is one of those things.

It's been like that for 15 years, and there has never been a call to change it...

> Is the list of tags supported in this view known? Can someone provide it?

Birth, marriage and death. Most cultures tend to observe these anniversaries.

But if you want to change your code, it's a simple one-line change:

github.com/fisharebest/webtrees/blob/1.7...hisDayModule.php#L76

Yes and no. Not in webtrees 1.7, but the ability to choose which facts are included was added in webtrees 2.0.

Thank you for your answer and explanations.

Your last two answers cased me to ask two additional questions:

1. Is there any plan or date on when webtrees 2 will be made public?

2. Is it worth to create pull requests for webtrees 1.7.10? Are you still accepting reasonable changes and updates for that version?

Thank you and have a nice day.

The current version (alpha.2) is pretty stable. I'm using it on my own live site - but remember that I have very comprehensive backups and a full transaction history on my database.

It's marked as alpha because the internals will still change, so you shouldn't build custom code against it (modules, etc.)

Also, there is still much work to do on the front-end styling.

> Is it worth to create pull requests for webtrees 1.7.10?

The 1.7 branch is in maintenance mode. Just bug fixes, security patches and translation updates.

Thank you.

Well, I asked, because you have 23 pull requests and 177 issues not resolved in 1.7.x branch.

But, OK. Any possible pull request or change or feature only to 2.x branch.

Can you share a source code, if it is made public already? Because either I'm blind or I can't find anything related to 2.x in these two places:

github.com/fisharebest
github.com/webtrees

Or maybe you're talking about the "develop" branch in main repository:

github.com/fisharebest/webtrees/tree/develop

> 23 pull requests and 177 issues not resolved

You should read the issues to see if they are important to you.

Many of these issues are feature-requests, and 95% of the issues also exist in webtrees 1.7.

There are no open issues that affect data-integrity, unhandled errors, etc. These get fixed almost immediately.

(FYI - the '1.7' tag on issues means that it has been fixed in 2.0, but still exists in 1.7 - and probably won't be fixed.)

Some projects are very aggressive in closing issues. I tend to leave them open to make it easy for people to find/comment.

> Can you share a source code

All the source code is shared on github.

You can download an official release (.zip file) from github.com/fisharebest/webtrees/releases

The "develop" branch is mostly used for pushing code to services such as travis, coveralls, scrutinizer, insights, etc. It gets rebased frequently, and should not be used at all.

The "master" branch is used to build the 2.0.x releases. github.com/fisharebest/webtrees/tree/master

The "1.7" branch is used to build the 1.7.x releases.

There is also a "1.4" branch, which is very old (PHP 5.2). It exists only for historical interest.

> github.com/fisharebest

This is the home of all my open source projects - including webtrees.

> github.com/webtrees

This account exists so that I can create a static site on github. For example, see the FAQ at webtrees.github.io/faq

Eventually, I'd like to move all the static content from wiki.webtrees.net and www.webtrees.net here (and then point the url www.webtrees.net to it).

Thank you for a detailed explanation.

Is there any place, where we can see 2.x live?

Is Demo > Latest Beta from homepage:

dev.webtrees.net/demo-dev/index.php?route=tree-page&ged=demo

the correct place?
