hello,

I just installed webtrees this week for the first time. I like it and I am doing tests on the privacy functionallity and have the following question:

I want visitors not to see living persons or even their emty boxes which are (depending on settings) shown to visitors (you should not see e.g.: the son of this shown died person has for kids etc). But I would like members to see everything.

so I set in Control panel / Manage family trees / test für webtrees — Privacy:

Show names of private individuals - show to menbers

Show private relationships: here I have only two options, I miss the 'show to members' option

if I set
- hide to everyone (the results are perfect to vistors, but unfortunately the same result is shown for members)
- show to visitors (it is perfect for members, but visitors see the emty boxes, what I don't want)

my other sttings are:
Show the family tree - show to visitors
Show dead individuals - show to visitors
Show living individuals - show to members

did I miss something?

thanks a lot for your answer.
chris

That's the default behaviour.

You can relax these rules in two ways

1) by showing just the name (but no other details) of private individuals.
2) by showing relationships to/from private individuals, which implies empty boxes on charts.

- hide to everyone (the results are perfect to vistors, but unfortunately the same result is shown for members)

This setting (i.e. the default) should give you what you want. Perhaps explain more clearly what you see and what you expect to see.

hello,

thanks for your answer. Maybe I expressed not clearly.

Standard settings shows for members in my test (kids and mother alive, father and grandparents dead) the following view (what is perfect):

public users see:

so you can see public, that father (who died) had a wife, a son, a daughter and one sibling (all alive). I would like to hide this information also for public views and and would like to show olny this

I tried several settings, but couldn't get it. Is there a solution?

thanks.
chris

What setting do you have for "Show private relationships".

It should be "Hide from everybody".

if I set 'hide from everybody' I get members as before (that's fine) and for public

now the public visitors can't see the relations of the died persons (what I would like, because than it is not very interesting for them)
thanks

That isn't right. Either there's a problem with your data, or a bug in the code.

I entered the data just for these 8 persones (3 generations) as a test case. So I would say a bug in the code ...

The solution I thougt about is just to have a complete private tree with all data (for members) and have a copy with only the died persons as second tree for public views.
Nor really perfect but should work.

I've just tried this on two of my own servers, and it works as expected.

Post all you privacy settings.
Post the GEDCOM file.
