Hello,

New user to webtrees. I've been able to get everything working pretty well, except for the Google Maps module. I've done some searches/browsing of the forum and wiki, but haven't been able to find any solutions to my issues.

Main issues are:
  • On an individual, the Google Maps™ tab shows the message "No map data exists for this individual", and no map is displayed
  • When clicking on a place in an event, a map page with a map does show, but it doesn't show a marker, and the map centered at 0,0.
Family Tree Data:
  • On the individual I'm testing with, there are two events with places that have been loaded with coordinates.
My Google Maps™ configuration:
  • Am using an API key
  • Indicating for webtrees to use Google Maps™ for the place hierarchy
  • I have used the Place check to find locations, and saved the geographic data (it shows in the Geographic data page)
  • Clicking on edit from the geographic data list properly shows a map with marker.
  • I've checked the wt_placelocation table, and it exists and has data
Debugging:
  • I'm using Firefox (47.0.1), and haven't seen any javascript errors.
  • Have also tested with Microsoft Edge, again with no javascript errors.
  • One other thing I've noticed is that the Place check screen has all cells with longitude and latitude values shaded light red with a warning icon.
  • In the webtrees log there aren't any errors associated with every page load that is wrong, but there is a Google Maps error, which may be related:

    /srv/http/webtrees/includes/session.php:193 /srv/http/webtrees/app/Module/GoogleMapsModule.php:1439 Undefined variable: par_id
    #0 /app/Module/GoogleMapsModule.php:1439 ErrorException("/srv/http/webtrees/app/Module/GoogleMapsModule.php:1439 Undefined variable: par_id")
    #1 /app/Module/GoogleMapsModule.php:104 adminPlaceCheck()
    #2 /module.php:26 modAction('admin_placecheck')
Deployment:
  • Currently running on a linux box on my local network
  • Apache: 2.4.23
  • PHP: 7.0.8
  • MariaDB: 10.1.14
  • Webtrees: 1.7.6
Thanks,

Ryan Wilhelm

Figured it out.

One needs to populate the locations starting with the top-level location of the hierarchy.
