How to Show Comment/Note of Multimedia Object was created by nico.decker
Hi.
I just converted from phpGED to WebTrees. It worked fine so far. However, I am missing a nice
feature that was built in in phpGED: When viewing photographs, it showed the comment/note
as overlay (LightBox?).
Is it possible to activate this somehow in WebTrees?
Or maybe there exists another approach for the following motivation: For group photos I usually describe,
which persons are visible in which order (e.g. "From left to right: Xyz behind abc, xxx, zzz, yyy ...").
On some photos this description becomes pretty long. So it is impossible to have it as part of the
filename (in my opinion). As a consequence I placed the description in the comment/note field,
and it appeared as overlay over the photograph in phpGED.
Any hint is welcome!

Thanks for the proposal. Yes, I tried this at first as well. However, there are disadvantages over what phpGED supported:
- text quality is bad in bitmaps/photographs, unless resolution (and therefore image size) is very high
- redundant information (same info in comment/note and on photograph)
- lots of additional work to fix/amend texts
In phpGED it was so easy to just modify the comment and it popped up in the photograph automatically.
However, thanks anyway!

Thank you very much, Nigel. This sounds to be the solution I was searching for.
Of course I need to dig into it further for figuring out how to patch the existing code.
Is there a reasonable explanation, why this 3-year-old-code-proposal is not part
of WebTrees, yet?
Regards,
Nico
